    Wagon quarter glass seals--again

If I get a successful front end alignment from a local shop I'll be staring at a headliner install, possibly/probably by a local upholstery shop. The quarter glass and windshield must come out to expose the pinchwelds over which the edges of the headliner are attached. From Layson's I...

    wagon quarter glass rubber seal

Will the gel type super glue remain somewhat flexible after setting up? Or does the gel type adhere best to the rubber? I suspect that the two surfaces that go together will need to be sanded for adhesion. Thanks for the suggestion. Rick, have you gotten any feedback from other people who have...

    wagon quarter glass rubber seal

Yes, I'm not happy with the silicone idea. Silicone would seal from water leaks but won't hold anything together. Super glue sounds like something to experiment with. I think I'll cut some pieces of the rubber and try it. In my mind it seems like it would break loose but durned sure worth a...

    wagon quarter glass rubber seal

Thanks for the suggestion of Laysons. I ordered seals from Laysons. The seals seem to be made in the correct cross section profile. Each one is enough for one side. The tricky part is that the seals are one straight rubber gasket with corners not built up. It appears to me that it will...

    wagon quarter glass rubber seal

Laysons hasn't shown me any quarter gaskets nor has the Australia site. I have found other early A rubber parts there however. Guess I'll recheckwith both of these sites again. Thanks guys for the responses. Jerry

    wagon quarter glass rubber seal

In order to install a headliner in my '63 Dart wagon the quarter glass must be removed. I would love to buy a pair of new nice seals if someone has them. Or, has anyone figured out another way to do the wagon headliner install? My headliner is beginning to fall apart and it's getting ugly...

    Sedan door glass run channel

My '63 Dart Wagon. For a couple years I searched for the proper channels with no luck. I ordered three different sizes from a places that listed early A Valiant door glass channels. I got those--not even close. I tried another size just by measuring the steel channel in the door and tried...

    Wagon sheet metal.

I do not have the english wheel and I also struggle with the shrinker/stretcher. I could eventually construct the lip portion but I have used up a lot of sheet metal and possibly over heated the shrinker/stretcher--well, that is an exaggeration I know. My patience gets tired so I help it out...

    Wagon sheet metal.

'63 Dart wagon. It has typical quarter panel rust from the top of the wheel opening to the low part of the area behind the wheel opening. My panel-building experience isn't quite up to the level of what's required. I've attempted to form a patch from 2-3 parts but not having any luck. Don't...

'63 Dart wagon rear door glass.

Hi cudamark, Thanks for the response. I'm actually working on a '63 Dart 4door wagon. Haven't started the front doors yet. Looking forward to that trip. The rear doors are my victims. I feel like an idiot since I've done several Chevy doors with no difficulty. I'm wondering about that fixed...

'63 Dart wagon rear door glass.

"63 Dart 170 wagon. Wanting to replace glass run channels. I followed the service manual instructions for removing the rear door glass. The glass is free but can't get it out. The manual says to lift glass up and out of the door. The glass is tightly held by the run channel. Well, up and...

    '63 Dart headlight bezels

I've noticed on a few parts sites that there are new bezels (repro, I'd guess) listed for Valiant/Barracuda and looking surprisingly similar to my '63 Dart bezels. Is there a significant difference between Dart and Valiant bezels? Attaching screw holes match? Thanks Jerry

Mid year 273 in 64 Darts?

For several years now I’ve heard many people call some ‘65 mustangs 64 1/2. I never heard such a thing in the sixties or seventies. I had a ‘65 mustang that was built April ‘64. The car had a generator, not an alternator. It also had a road draft tube instead of the pcv system. Titled as a...

    Fuel tank fit

Hi Dan, Looks like I’ll find out what’s different about the ‘63 tank from ‘64-‘66. Ordered one and look forward to its arrival next week. I’m hoping that the difference isn’t too bad. Jerry in Denver

    Fuel tank fit

I have a 1963 Dart wagon. I want to replace the fuel tank and wonder if wagon tanks are different from sedan/hardtop. I’ve seen some eBay listings that state not for wagons.m Online pics sure do look like my wagon tank. Anybody know about this? Jerry in Denver

Where do I put this under dash temp gauge sensor?

Yes, I think there are two of them. They are in the block, not the head. Hopefully you aren’t working with an aluminum block. Don’t know those at all. Those block drain plugs are a bugger to remove—usually. Good luck with it. I hope the pipe thread is the right one for the sender bulb. Jerry

Where do I put this under dash temp gauge sensor?

Seems to me that on the passenger side of the block are a couple block drains. They look like your sensor might screw right in there. I could be wrong, but when I got my ‘66 Dart I removed an aftermarket temp gauge setup and I took something out of the block drain. The ole memory ain’t what...

    63-66 a body ac options

I used a setup from Classic Auto Air and also got very good customer service from them. I called several times while installing in my ‘66 Dart GT. I’ve had less-than-helpful responses from Vintage Air while installing in a Chevy years ago. When shopping for my Dart unit, VApeople didn’t want...

Steering wheel options for us Early A drivers

My Dart has power steering. I got a Grant GT black four spoke 13 1/2 inch wheel with kit. The driving feel is way better than the original large diameter steering wheel. I think the GT wheel is about $55 or so and install kit is about $30. Got it at Pep Boys. Not a difficult install. The...

    65 Barracuda, Sinful installation.

I don't give a rat's patoot what engine is in a car as long as it looks cool and is reliable. I'm in my seventies and nowadays I like calm driving cars that are straight and smooth. My slant-powered '66 Dart GT hardtop is a pleasure and a hoot to drive. No V-8 in that car--at least not yet...

    66 Dart Owners thread

Here's my '66. I did the body and had the paint shot by a local shop--2007 BMW Mini Cooper Oxygen Blue. Disc brakes, 4.5" bolt pattern, slant 6 with dutra duals and dual short glasspacks. Sure does take me back to high school--very early sixties. I removed all of the nameplates for a...

    Door weatherstrip/windcord????

Hey 66Dvert, Think I'll go to one of the local Graingers and check out the stuff they have. Looks like a guy could find something there that will fill the bill. I don't quite understand their dimension info, but I can surely tell what will (or might) it when it's right in front of me. That...

    Door weatherstrip/windcord????

66Devert, Durned if I didn't learn somethin' today. That little flap on the upper "U" shaped seal at the top of the door opening--I just stuck that door weatherstrip into it as if it were meant to go there. Guess it was--duh. Thanks!! That "U" piece even has another little thin flap that...

    Door weatherstrip/windcord????

AussiePlymouths, Well, hmmmm. I took some vise-grips to the pinch welds on both doors. I moved them inboard about a quarter-inch along the rear vertical. At the very top, where the pinch weld is just a bit wider and very near the inside garnish panel, it didn't want to bend in quite as far...
