I put a 70HD in my 86 Ramcharger a couple of years ago. The axle bearings were the same as a 60 and the carrier was supposedly the same. Just the housing was braced more, the tubes were bigger, and there was more meat. The cover was the same as well iirc.

Has the same crank bolt pattern. And says it will fit smallblock with 904. Test fitted it to my crank and converter and it all matches up.

In the 727 Handbook by Munroe, they suggest staying away from the Kevlar on a mostly street driven ride as it's more harsh on the drums. They recommend the red lined bands. Says kevlar would be fine on a race only unit.

Oh yeah, definitely easy to build one that will handle that.

Thanks fishy. I asked him again and he said he thinks it came out of a 2001 which would be fine but he just kept thinking there was something different about it. I ordered a rebuild kit, reverse drum, intermediate shaft support, and new pump gears for it so, guess I'll find out real soon! lol

You could build it yourself. For a few hundred $$$ you can have yourself a pretty stout 904. What motor is it going behind and its HP?

I'm building a 904 right now for a 72 Dart w/360 around 450hp. TF2 Sonnax rear servo Alto Red frictions/5 thin for 4drum Kolene steels 4.2 lever(factory) Kevlar front band 4 pin planetaries Will hold up just fine.

I'm sure you have to have it "drop" 3 times. 1. the input shaft splines 2. the reaction shaft or pump hub splines 3. the keys on the pump gear to the slots on the converter Otherwise you risk shearing the keys on the gear in your pump. Done it once before.

I put an 8 3/4 out of a 66 Charger in my 71 Dart Swinger. Moved the perches in and used late 80's early 90's Chrysler minivan steel wheels (looked sort of like silver copcar wheels). They fit perfect and everything. Can't remember the backspace or how much the perches were moved in though :(
