I got a 74 Duster that does not have any emissions equipment and was wondering if they started putting everything on at the factory at a certain point in time or if it started being put on cars going to certain states earlier?

So, what year did they start adding all the emissions equipment (i.e., EGR, Air Pump, etc.) to our MOPARS? Did they start with only certain states like CA or was it across the board? I always thought that it wasn't in full swing until 1975 but I'm starting to think that it was in 1973 or 1974.

Understood, again, I'm not a purist and would be open to installing some type of after market lights as long as the wiring was still intact. Does anyone know of after market lights that would require minimal drilling and present a natural appearance?

The fact that this could be a 71 340 seems to make it more desirable to me, should I add that into the equation? I feel bad that I made the error in judgment and told the guy that it was not a 71 motor. I called him and apologized for what might be a mistake.

the 6th digit is a 3 and the VIN seq # matched the number on the rad support. I was worried about that too so I made sure to verify. What is funny is that this is the second 73 duster in as many weeks that I've seen with a 71 front clip and tail light panel.

The trunk extensions looked solid with no visible signs of rot (no recent visual resurfacing) at the lower junction and the wheel wells look solid and intact.
