Thats exactly what happened. My 65 did the same thing. One of the brass pins broke in the tumblers & key got stuck. Take the whole ign switch to a reputable lock smith to have the replace the pins.

Far as I know its a 50/50 shot of being Finished reemed pilot hole or not. I used telescoping T to mic my pilot bore. As far as converter hud changes I thought it was 66-up when the hub went bigger.

I have one of those problom solver bushings as well. Only its a bushing not a roller.(ill NEVER use a roller bearing on the input shaft. Seen to many fail & ruin the inputshaft!) But the early small converter pilot hub wont let it fit. So it will need to be turned down to fit the small crank...

Im smack dab in the middle of a auto to 4-speed swap in my 65 gt with the hi-po 273. The hole in the crankshaft is not finished reemed for the standard pilot bushing. My pilot hole is .905 they make an un-finished size bushing Thats .915 o.d. just took a few .000 off and drove in nicely.

I ended up having mine converted to a regulator double u-joint style drive shaft with a slip joint. Looks like a big front drive shaft off a 4x4. But was worth it by a long shot to convert it!

They are rare but only 65 slant 6 B body. my buddy's 65 coronet has a poly 318 with a smallblock 727 slip yoke cable shifted.

Best bet my friend is to keep an eye out for a 65 B body with a slant 6 that is an automatic. It should be a slip yoke 904. If you want to keep the cable shift style tranny.

No you cannot do that swap. for one the later (66-up) 904 with the slip yoke don't have the rear pump any more. The speedo cable/driven gear & housing is completely diffrent as well. Also the output shaft splines are one tooth off (less) in the 65 904's. i tryed to swap in the wide raito...

Yes the 1965 B body 727's were cable shift slip yoke. I've heard of 65 B-bodys that havw the slant 6 & had a 904 that were slip yoke cable shifted 904. I've been looken for one of those gems! Becouse all the output shaft guts will swap into my 65 smallblock case & presto! Cable shift slip yoke 904!

Why wouldn't you just carefully cut out the heat riser valve & eather weld shut the holes or tap then for 3/8 plug & bolt back on presto! Same manafold & no surchen yards. (Like did to mine) not tryen to be rude,I'm just "thrifty"

The manafolds are the same between the 180 hp motors & the hi-po 235 273's. its from there back is where its alk diffrent. Slightly,better flowing Y-pipe & 2 1/2 from Y-pipe to muffler then 2 1/4 from muffler to the resonator. Id love to do it,but chrysler really did there home work developing...

Man,if my exhaust wasnt in great shape (factoy hi-po 273 single with res.) from manafolds back id use the ol GT for a lab rat! lol. I have man. stearing & brakes.

X2 on possable sure grip. my 65 dart gt had a 7 1/4 clutch style sure grip in it! It worked great so i sold it before i did any damage to it & made it just as worthless as an open 7 1/4.
