Numbers matching slants will be rare if more people do what you do... :/ TBH, I wouldn't mind finding a slant six powered A for a driver. Unfortunately old mopars out here are not common and made worse by being smack dab in the center of some of the least populated part of the lower 48.

My 68 barracuda has a 440 and 727 from a 78 New Yorker. In the new yorker I could coax 11 - 13 mpg after deleting Lean Burn. I have not calculated the since the mild performance rebuild and putting it in my baracuda but I am pretty sure I can watch the gas gauge dropping...

I don't thi k the Schumacher will work with factory 4 speed without modifying the zbar. Have you used the search function? I am sure I have read past topics on which headers to use with a 4 speed. I have no clue how any header would work with a Tremec 6sp.

Here ya go. This is with the riser I made. You can see the throttle cable just touches the linkage for the secondaries. When I mount it without the riser it gets bound up in an "S" shape.

I must be my combo then. If I clamp it low the cable gets bound up on the linkages on the street demon carb that control the secondaries. Even up high the cable just barely touches them.

Maybe it is just my combination then. When I tried to clamp the cable down on the main bracket it does not clear some of the carb linkages. I had to raise it up like the original clamp from the 78 NY, but without the offset. You can see the offset in this picture.

Success today. The original owner called today and I was invited over to look for the parts I needed. We found them and more. Got the kick down linkage and the shift and kick down arms as well.

I am curious as to what you guys used for shifter on you auto applications. I have the factory console shifter but I am missing the torque bracket and the lower shift linkage. I am having no luck finding the linkage anywhere. Can a guy use a BM shifter with the center console?

I sprung for the ceramic coated tri-y. They fit well. I did need to add a little clearance to the passenger collector to add space between it and the torsion bar. Also had to notch a corner of the power steering. Other than that, a good fit in very confined space.

To clarify my earlier post, I thought the whiplash cams had the long overlap to give the performance sound and early intake closing to keep dynamic compression higher for low compression motors.

Hmm... I always thought the whiplash cams increased dynamic compared to similar duration cams by closing the intake sooner than the rest. Learn something new everyday.

dynamic compression is more vital which will depend on the cam you choose. You can run 11:1 with enough overlap. Keep dynamic in the 8:1 range and should be pump gas friendly depending on timing and such. I built my 440 under 8 for piece of mind.
