    Sweptline Serpentine

Old thread, but in the next day or two, I'll be measuring for the belt length. I found this belt look up by length from Dayco. I thought it may help somebody out. I am gonna try it. https://na.daycoaftermarket.com/en/catalog/#serpentine-belts

I am just about to call this done. I still have a little to do on it, but not much. I did add an idler pulley. It turned out looking better than I thought it would.

I found a small piece of 1/2" aluminum diamond plate and whittled out a crude top bracket. I also band sawed a different Magnum bracket. It is getting closer to looking like I want.

I am not sure on the year, but I think they were all the same. They made a non ac bracket that would have taken less sawzall time. If I get bored, I may whittle a few more ounces off of it since my truck is heavy.

I found a belt and grabbed a set of vice grips. Here are my 2 options. I like the 2nd best with the alt sitting lower and to the side, but # 1 has more belt on the water pump. I will try the 2nd first and can always change if I need to.

I will post more pics when I get a belt. Somewhere around here I have an old one that I was going to use to measure for the new one. I just can't find it yet..

I really, still did not like how high and in front the alternator sat. The output stud was also very close the the valve covers. So close that I would have to remove the alt. to take the valve cover off.

Trying to get things ready to get my Old Yeller going early this spring, I find I have no alternator or even the brackets. They are now on another project. So, looking around I have several good magnum style alternators and their brackets. I hate spending $$, so I thought I'd see what I could...

    Quick drive shaft question......

Man! I am way out of my league on this site. There is no way I could ever afford the prices people on here pay for stuff. The most I ever paid to have a driveshaft shortened was $25 and I balanced it myself with hose clamps, per the MP chassis book. Find an old guy with a big lathe and I...
