69 barracuda dash to firewall bolts

I don't mean to rock the boat here. It has been several years since I had my dash out and my memory isn't what it once was. Having said that... I don't recall the 5 OEM bolts having the pointed nose shown in previous posts here. They were black coated machine screws with kept washers...

69 barracuda dash to firewall bolts

I was thinking 1/4-20 bolts. The threaded neck of the 'U' nuts wasn't much taller than the head of the bolt. I decided so long as the bolt doesn't come out of the neck, all good. Yeah the heat case and the left fresh air think need to be removed. So if you find you need about 5/8 bolt length...

" What is MOPAR and what does it stand for ?

In the beginning, Henry Ford got his engines from Dodge Brothers. They were already building reliable engines for all sorts of equipment. Most don't know that Kingsford Charcoal is a spin off from all the waste wood that Henry Fords auto production created. Just a little bit of trivia some find...

    Anyone use a diablo tuner?

OK, The climate controller doesn't show DEFROST and DEFOG but it does do both. Cycling the a/c compressor on and off in "defrost" mode has been done in about every vehicle with factory a/c for many years. Long before todays computer controllers. The purpose is to defog, dry the air in the cabin...

    This Is A Heartbreaker....

New Testament King James Version Nahum 2:4 Just being aware of the warning might prevent it. It happened. It was posted here before me. My reply here is seen by others. Some will google my reference. Some will go to the printed page to read it. All part of the plan? I have to wonder how old...

    rust vs molasses

We used vinegar instead of molasses on suspension parts. It worked well. I don't know what quantities of molasses costs. I can tell you we got the vinegar for more or less free. Ok to be honest, it was pickle juice. Kids working at fast food places can hook you up with buckets of the stuff and...

    2014 Ram 5.7 hemi issue.

First thing I do is actually one of 2 things. When a noise comes from front of engine I drop the accessory drive belt and turn things by hand. If the noise seems to come from rear of engine I'll use a long tube funnel like a transmission funnel as stethoscope to narrow down the source area. This...

    Red grill surounds

I've got a 67 B'cuda. I've always felt that the factory painting inside of grille surrounds the generic argent gray was a copout/shortcut. I've told myself if I ever pull those grilles again for any reason, I will paint the surrounds body color (which is red). I did rub away the argent and...

    Sending unit

Plastic is actually plastics. Correct blend of plastics has an OK reputation with todays fuels. Slightly wrong blend of plastic will call for revisit. Brass will stand the test of time and fuel additives, whether its common pump gas or ethanol free. Ever heard "We get what we pay for"? In most...

    Sending unit

Yep, all the brass floats are thin where that groove for the hook is formed. They tend to crack right where the end of the hook lands. The seal can be ordered through your local NAPA store if they don't already have it on the shelf. I think it was between 7 and 9 USD but that was several years ago.

    Sending unit

Late to the party here but I have to say, by the time you buy a brass float alone and a seal alone you will have spent about the same as an entire sender. I chose to buy the cheapest sender out there and rob the float and seal from it.

    22 or 26 inch radiator

In certain conditions 'too cool' could be a bad problem to have. For 35 years my dad would drive whatever vehicle he owned nearly 5 miles from home drieway to textile mill parking lot and back again 8 hours later. At those lower temp engine areas like sheet metal rocker covers and top of the...

    22 or 26 inch radiator

The 22 inch shroud has 4 small corners, less than the size of your hand, beyond the size of the core and opening. Very little additional core coverage. There just isn't much gained with that. The 26-inch radiator with basically same diameter fan gains much more from additional core size and even...

Valve Cover Gasket Question (yes, another)

It's difficult to get anything to stick to chrome. We have seen a few of our mopar cast timing covers chrome plated. Guess why they aren't popular and/or more often seen?

    Wiper Transmission

I have also. My 67 model primary pivot post was so worn I had to buy another secondary pivot and transplant the shaft from it. Only good thing about the task is the sintered bronze bushings are generic (off the shelf) sizes/dimensions. Just thinking... it's been about 12 years. So long that I...

    Center Console Trim?

If you decide to delete that lighter well there is a chrome plug for the hole. A coin in the well is a short circuit which makes it less desirable anyway.

    Wiper Transmission

If the wiper pivot assemblies are worn and/or binding, no brand of linkage bushings will last very long. We have a member here who properly renews door hinges, but I haven't seen anyone or anywhere who services the wiper pivots. The seal kits available do include zerk fittings so we can fill...

    Power Steering Pump

If it's a Saginaw pump you're a lucky man. It is the easiest to renew, no press or special tools needed. Several how to vids on Youtube. Most of those are from chevy owners but same pump. Both of my 67 Plymouths had Saginaw pumps. I don't know if Dodge used them.

    Heater Box / Cowl Seal

you could ask Jim at DMT... my gasket didn't have such a solid side. It was many moon ago. I don't know that the solid side goes to the box but the gasket is square foam and will invert to put that solid side to any direction. Goo luck with it.
  29. R

    Heater Box / Cowl Seal

I don't recall mine having a solid side. All foam, about 3/4 square. I do recall using same 3M weatherstrip adhesive on it. I would think your solid side goes to the box which is likely the flattest surface. Then foam side could conform to the cowl.

    Heater Box / Cowl Seal

That gasket needs better adhesive on it at box and cowl. The one i bought from aftermarket had a peel and stick on one side. The adhesive came right of the foam along with the peel part.
