What year is the 340 you are using? 68/69 will have the timing marks on the same side as your 273. If you are using a later model engine, the 273 water pump makes it difficult to read the timing marks.

I think he is talking about the 3/8" hole that gives you access to the allen bolt to secure the wing assembly to the door frame. You can find that plug at OSH in black or white.
