Champion radiator install with twin electric fans

Nice. What kind of fan controller or relay/ fuse set up are you running? Also what brand and amp alternator are you running? I'm using the derale dual fan set up with the derale dual fan controller, 100 amp GM style 1 wire alternator. I think I have 2 problems. My alternator threw a belt a...

Some pics of my new rad/ fan set up.

Looks good. You must have a metal brake to play with. I got it installed today but it don't look quite as clean as yours.

Some pics of my new rad/ fan set up.

I sure hope so...LOL. I've gotta cool rubber seal that snaps onto the top core rail that will cover the bolts I had to install to hold the shroud. I get them from Mercedes ML radiators and they snap right on the rails and act as a gap seal for air flow but in this case it will just be...

Some pics of my new rad/ fan set up.

Oh man, that's good to know. I have a 100 amp alternator and I'm hoping it will be enough to run everything under full load. I'm gonna run a high flow water pump as well as a high flow 180 stat. I was hoping to have my water pump installed tonight but mancinis sent me a big block pump by...

    How close is to close?

My buddy runs a hot 340 in his 68 barracuda with the mechanical Mopar offset blade fan with no clutch but runs a shroud with no issues with high rev cavitation as those blades are balanced for less noise and vibration. The aftermarket3 core radiator might be a struggle getting a shroud...

Some pics of my new rad/ fan set up.

I did some digging after taking all my measurements and came up with a tailor made set up for the cuda. Griffin rad with the dual derale fan set up pulling 3750 cfm's total. Now gotta fab up some brackets to hold it all in place but the shroud matched the radiator perfectly with a snug fit on...

    How close is to close?

Got any pics of the top of your motor? Need a better look at your set up as I've never seen a fan clutch that close unless you've got a massive sized multi core radiator or way too long a fan spacer. Definitely need a shroud though.

What are the specs,on that radiator? Got any pics?

    Overheating dilemma....need input.

I'm going the new route and I know for a fact this radiator was flushed before. I bought it. I got it from a friend pretty cheap.

    Overheating dilemma....need input.

Could be. Gonna flush the block out and install a hose drain from Jegs. My buddy also mentioned that ganofilter....seems like a good idea at this point.

    Overheating dilemma....need input.

It always stayed at 180 before, but it kept climbing and I turned on my electric fan at the 195 mark otherwise it kept climbing.

    Overheating dilemma....need input.

Well I looked in my bypass hose hole and saw the impeller spinning but decided to pull the pump and inspect it anyways. The impeller looks fine, the bearings look fine. I think the rad must be plugged. It's an older used griffin rad that I don't know the history on so I'm gonna just get a new...

    Overheating dilemma....need input.

Yeah, the fact that I smelled burning rubber then lost a belt seems to be the giant staring me in the face but the fact that the water pump pulley spins freely with no noise kinda had me stumped. Looks like I need to pull the water pump for a look see and it all kinda makes sense since it never...

    Overheating dilemma....need input.

I hear that, I edited my story a few times. You know my dumb *** forgot if I even grabbed the heater hoses to check if they're hot. I didn't really check for churning under the radiator cap and yeah I agree I need to do some more digging when I get some time.

    Overheating dilemma....need input.

Here's my problem. I'm currently running an older griffin aluminum rad with a newer style slant six shroud that I mated to it with a mechanical ridgid blade aftermarket fan....no clutch fan, just blades. I also have an electric pusher fan for back up on hot days idling in traffic. It seemed to...

    Champion radiator come in

Don't feel bad....I plumbed my electric fuel pump backwards because I wanted my pretty logo to be on the outside of the pump. I wasn't paying attention like I should and when I turned on the pump I heard bubbles in my fuel cell and immediately knew what my loser *** did...LOL.

Best way to clean calcium build up out of a radiator??

Where do you get distiller water? I have never seen it at the auto parts stores...maybe I'm blind.

That clear sight glass is cool, where'd that come from. Any pics of it on the car, running? Pretty neat.

Chrome O-ring Water Neck (Thermostat Housing)

Yeah chrome sucks, get a billet one from mancini racing and ask them which one they recommend for your app. Everyone I know that used chrome got let down by a major leak sooner than later.

where to get new heater control cable?

Junk yard might have some good ones as they rarely are toast.

273 thermostat housing leak- mystery solved!

I used a billet housing from Mancinis, still leaked. Had to get a new, flat wet stone and meticulously cleaned up the stat housing mating surface on my intake which had some decent pitting. That finally cured my problem.

which one would you choose the stock cooling system or a aluminum radiator

Your temp should climb a bit and fluctuate as your ac pressures fluctuate. I bet if you got a wicked, bad *** pusher fan you would maintain your ideal 180 temp but it will take a pretty stout fan to blow across the condenser and even more ideal would be a shrouded fan and something in the 3000...

    Mechanical Fan VS Electric Fan

I have both mechanical and electric back up pusher fan for when I'm at red lights on very hot days or stop and go traffic. The electric back up is well worth it when I need it.

    340 water neck leak.

Chrome sucks. Got a billett one from mancini's. Had to take a wet stone to the mating surface on the intake to remove all the pits. Used a gasket and red permatex to finally get mine to quit leaking/seeping, but I think the biggest help was getting the pits out of the intake with the...

    Electric Fan Suggestions.

Just make sure you run it through a relay so you don't melt your switch, wiring or burn car to ground.

    Flex Fans:Are they dangerous??

I'm using a one piece rigid blade aluminum fan from the auto parts joint, works good with my slant six shroud-perfect fit. I also have an electric pusher fan in front of the rad for when I'm at long lights on hot days, helps alot.
