Ah, I didn't mention that I have the hinge off. I clamped it in my vise last night, and started to pull it around, but I didn't feel very safe. I'm by no means light, and I don't know if I was going to weigh enough to move the coil far enough to slide over that pin.

I have a hood hinge that has a sping that is no longer hooked on the peg, so there is no "springiness" to the hinge anymore. Has anyone experienced this, and have a sweet trick for twisting the spring back around and hooking it on the peg without losing an eye? Thanks.

I forgot to take pictures last night, so I snapped a couple on the way out this morning. The metal clips are stock, the plastic ones are aftermarket. The main thing is to not grab way out away from the clip and pull too hard. it will crack the board. you wanrt the pressure to come from right...

I can take some pictures of the back side of the door panel, the clips and the door without the panel later today when I get home. Bug me if you don't hear from me. You are more likely to break the panel than the clips. It's just pressboard.

I would imagine that if a heat gun would work, boiling water would probably have a similar effect. It would deliver heat to the stripe without allowing it to get above ~212 degrees. Probably safer for the paint for a klutz. In either case, I can see myself getting burned. That's how I roll.

I don't have a pot large enough to dip the whole car into boiling water. I can't imagine how much wood it would take to get that much water boiling, too.
