Cerakote ready to spray ceramic coating

Clean clean clean in my opinion. Not hard to do and doesn’t take up too much time to do it right. You can see how I did my exhaust pipes which most people will never see. I used a 40 grit disk on a grinder mainly because it was fast and easy. 80 grit is what I originally planned but didn’t have...

Cerakote ready to spray ceramic coating

Have not exposed it to that yet. I have some oversprayed on masking tape I could test. I run Dot 5 in my vehicles. Doubt it does much. I can test the gasoline though.

Cerakote ready to spray ceramic coating

What’s really cool is they have so many different colors to choose from. The firearms guys go crazy for this product. I can see why. It sprays like nothing else. They are serious when they say coverage in one coat. Seems like it has a lot of solids too. Cleans up easy with acetone. Another nice...

Cerakote ready to spray ceramic coating

Sorry forgot to update. Turned out nice. Will see how everything holds up after running the car a while. Notice the tti headpipes. Almosted painted them to match but didn’t at this time.

Cerakote ready to spray ceramic coating

Check it this morning and it still looks great. Once I finish the H-pipe section I can start installation. I’m thinking I might do the brand new tti headpipes as well since I know they will rust eventually. I fell like this stuff should hold up well. Cerakote might end up being my go to for...

Cerakote ready to spray ceramic coating

Too easy!! This stuff sprays like a rattle can with the detail gun. Very easy to shoot. I ran 20 psi on my gun. I’m sure I could go lower but this was my first time using this little detail gun. 1.8mm tip. 4oz cup. Filled to 4oz. Had 1.5oz left over in the cup. One coat was plenty. This stuff...

Cerakote ready to spray ceramic coating

It’s 72* here today. Will let air dry and let the sun heat up the pipes for a good hour before spraying. Good idea on the heat. I’ll use my heat gun though.

Cerakote ready to spray ceramic coating

Starting prep today. And will see how far I get on a couple of sections. The only thing that bugs me is the cleaning prep solution they recommend. It’s expensive and hard to get from my internet searches. I can see it being a problem with solutions that hold moisture but that’s usually in areas...

Cerakote ready to spray ceramic coating

That’s awesome. It’s all in the prep now. It’ll be a pita but with a DA with 80-100 grit it should go quick. Will do in sections. It’s been really rainy here lately and don’t need flash rust to jack things up. Still waiting for product to arrive.

Cerakote ready to spray ceramic coating

Cerakote Coatings: C-7700Q Cerakote Glacier Silver I bought a pint. I hear it goes a long way. Supposed to use a .8mm spray tip so there should be very little overspray.

Cerakote ready to spray ceramic coating

No heat cure on this product. Can handle in an hour. Can assemble next day. Reaches full cure in five days. Excited to give it a try.

Cerakote ready to spray ceramic coating

Just ordered some Cerakote silver to revitalize the tti exhaust pipes I pulled from a salvaged 70 dart years ago. Says it’s rated to 2000*F. Anyone use this stuff besides CudaChick? The spec sheets and instructions make it sound easy. Can’t be harder than spraying a car. I’m always leary of...

Fitting TTi headers on a 273

Another recommendation. Ditch the tti gaskets and order up some REMFLEX gaskets. They seal up amazing. Plenty of positive reviews on FABO.

    where to buy exhaust?

I found the TTI exhaust kit extremely easy to install on my 66 valiant. The headers.....that’s a whole another issue:BangHead:

    Early A/ TTI/ X-Pipe Question.............

You could get the X-pipe from whoever and then get a muffler shop to bend the X-connectors for you. Or you could order a few U-bends and weld your own X-pipe connectors. I even think Summit sells the U-bends. Either way you'll be spending time and cash. You just have to decide which is...

    Dougs headers idiot tech support

Been there done that on the early-a with a 4-speed. Yep ya gotta modify. Thank goodness for Brewer's Performance. They helped out a bunch with all the dfferent bellhousings and brackets that are out there for the 4-speed setups. It's worth give them a call if you have any other problems. Of...

    TTI exhaust too loud

I love the dynomax superturbos. Here is a trick that you will love. Install some Dynamat, hushmat, fatmat, or whatever sound deadener of choice. It will make a world of difference as far as the resonance factor and cabin decibles. I like it loud. They know I'm coming up on their *** and they...

    A Body Shorty Stainless Headers

Man those are beauiful peices of art. I have a 360 crate 904 I plan to install into my 68 Dart later this year. It currently has power steering with console automatic. What kind of changes would you have to make just to clear the power steering and still make them easy to install from the...

    TTI Tease

Hang in there John. I feel your pain too. All to well unfortunately because I have early a-bodies. Just finished my Doug's fiasco with z-bar and all. Z-bars are a *****.

    Spitfire Headers Length,What to do??

yep, hope you find a solution you're looking for but you will be better off with the extension to headers dumps if taking to a track. Check Summit or have a muffler guy make the dumps for ya IMO. I still like the bands clamps. No gaskets and easier to bolt on the early a's. Plus reusable.

Good to know. Glad to get some experienced info.

Was speaking of the D450 for the early a-body. It's 2.5"

TTI's where is best place to buy??

10% off at Spring Fling here too. I was lucky enough to save on shipping by picking them up. They are a nice header. Been dealing with Doug's they are nice and a little easier to install on an early-a-body. They are not step headers like the tti's and they only have a 2-1/2" collector. My...

    Band Clamps

yep planned on having some supports. They cost about $14 each for the top ones. The weld on ones are $43ea.

    Band Clamps

I bought some band clamps shown below from Dynomax to attach to my Spitfire headers. The space in the early a-bodies is very tight and I want to maintain the 2.5" diameter of the header collector tube. I can at least clock the clamp in any direction I need to clear the Z-bar and such.. My...
