    Big Block Engine Mounting Question

Nothing wrong with a motor plate. You could use angle iron with a heavy rubber between the frame and the angle iron. Always run at least a rubber tranny mount.I drove a 67 barracuda with a plate with the mods stated above and she drove on the street like a dream. Was not harsh at all and very xost...

    R.v. - 440/727

Great base for a build vt. I pulled 2 over the years. The first one was a 71 and had 6 pack rods and was a fairly rare block with a lot of extra ribbing on the block. The second was a 76 630 casting and had thicker main webbing than most other 440 blocks. I would go for it also.

    915 head "Valve Question"

Hi 02.The 1967 magnum head had 2.08 int. 174 exh.The 383 had the smaller exhaust. I believe same port volume just a smaller exh.valve.That said you can open up the exhaust to 1.74 and have a fresh seat on the 1.60 915s.

need help! new dizzy, no-start condition

Oops. You are using vacuum advance. Use your timing light, plug vacuum line on carb.Set total to 38 degrees. Also look at what rpm total advance is being achieved. I like it all in by 2000 which is what the MP dizzys are SUPPOSED to achieve. So you now have 38 degrees. Reinstall vacuum line,start...

need help! new dizzy, no-start condition

Remove #1 plug.Stick a finger over the hole.Turn engine slowly by hand until air starts pushing your finger out of the hole. This is compression stroke.Look at timing mark,it should be close to tdc. If so turn engine to align the timing marks.Install distributor aligning rotor with #1 cylinder...

    77 440 connecting rods strength

Who is selling new rods for $200? New is always better than used.If I could buy new for 2 bills thats the way I would go.That being said a rods life is determined by the cycles of operation.Hi-po use or high mileage will have more stress on the rod and its cycle life. The problem is noone...

    Vibration in engine- help!

Yes the to bearing gets worn and can be off center. If you were rough on the balancer you may have damaged it.If you have grease between the engine and transmission you may have a seal leaking or bad input bearing.Grease and oil is not good for a clutch or related components.Personally,I have...

    MP Cylinder Heads question

Mine dropped on the dowel pins just fine. I used them on a standard stroke 440 and they worked good. Car ran well. They were not ported. Never flowed both heads as a comparison so Ill take your word for it. Im just a few years back in time. When I hear mp 452s I think iron head.

    451/452 Stroker Builds?

Before building a stroker, ask yourself, will a standard stroke 440 satisfy your need for speed. The bigblocks in standard stroke are by no means slouches and can produce some serious hp. Maximum effort, meaning more money or just plain old seriously fast and standard stroke. This is just a question...

    Motorhome/Winnebago BB

I found an old 440 out of a 71 winnebago. Apparently it was a cold weather block and had a lot of extra ribbing on the block. Look at the 630 casting mid 70s block, some, not all have extra main bearing support. Earlier blocks tend to have better hardness.Around mid 68 they started reinforcing the...

    MP Cylinder Heads question

The stage six heads are decent. It all depends on what combo your running. They will work fine on a standard stroke 440 but if your running a hot stroker over 470 cubes plan on some porting to make them work.Indy would be better in this case.Think of an engine as an air pump. The more air in and...
