I have a 65 barracuda 904 trans slant six. The transmission has the slip in "bung" and bolt down retainer. I am wondering if this adapter will work to convert it to a more common screw type speedometer cable. Mine is leaking at this point. If not does anyone know if you can replace the seals on...

    Replacing RearEnd Oil Seals

Turns out I was wrong. The seals did not get damaged. There was a little leaking but I believe that was do to the foam gasket being destroyed from age. I went ahead and replaced them hope it stops the leak.

    Replacing RearEnd Oil Seals

Well I did this a couple of weeks ago and I apparently screwed up because I am leaking oil into my Brake drum. Should I drive the seal to the shoulder on a 7 3/4 rear end? I do not have the tool suggested by the service manual so I made one. I used a 2.25 od (seals says 2.3 od) washer and a 8...

    Rear Axle outer bearings

I do not have a spring. The old seal did not appear to have one either. If you look on the side it give a profile. It is basically a cup with a rubber inner seal but the area between the seal and the cup is empty. This is the part. http://www.ebay.com/ctg/Timken-484058-Wheel-Seal-/79099790

    Rear Axle outer bearings

I successfully pulled the rear axles and I pulled the seals now the question is which way does the seal go in? Cup facing in or out? The rubber seems to be angled cup in.

    Rear Axle outer bearings

67Dart273 Thank you. That makes it a lot clearer. I did read the shop manual for the 65 year and unfortunately it really just talked about the speciality tools and made it hard to follow. I think since this is may daily driver I am just going to allow my machine shop to take them off and put...

Rear Tires Suddenly Lock Up Going 65

    7.25 Rear End Leaking?

Okay so today I was changing the rear brakes and on the driver side I noticed some very heavy weight oil. I think I found it leaking behind the wheel hub that feeds into the rear end. Is that possible? If so what can I do to stop or fix it? I did check the oil level in the rear end and it was down.

    7 1/4 Sure grip?

As I recall I do not remember seeing a set of springs. I can not remember exactly what was in there but no springs. If I recall correctly there was 5 pinions 3 about the same size for the axle shafts and drive shaft a smaller one towards the center and a larger one in a cage.

    904 kick down linkage

Okay I don't know if this helps but on my 65 Barracuda /6 the kickdown linkage ties to the accelerator rod which has a butterfly wing shaped piece. The other side of the butterfly goes to a spring with a static mount at the bottom. The spring pulls the kickdown linkage back up.
