    422 cube Compression Suggestions

Yes very good info!! I just happened to decide to check up in some of my threads. If I still had the shortblock I would probably go with the MLS idea, at least to help it out.

Crank is shot, do I stroke it or not?

For me, the shortblock is what I'd concentrate on for now. I'd go with a stroker, torque is a wonderful thing. For that cam, I think the headers/rear/carb/etc you have would be fine. Yeah, the one-legger rear might spin more. The 8.25 might not last as long as the 8.75. Blah blah lol. Do the...

    360 Cylinder Pressures

Subscribed, I hope you continue with the updates! For what it's worth, my first small block was a 1972 360. The only real difference between it and 73-up was that it had factory flat tops, no valve reliefs, rated at 8.8:1. Never any machine work, std bore, bearing size, oem valve job, etc. J...

I still can't tell left from right!

Yes! Thank you! Now, I realize I have had my left and right confused all along. I can't believe I am now left handed....lol! Seriously, thats what I needed. I appreciate the pic!

I still can't tell left from right!

Ok, this one should be easy. I only have one offset set of 4 MP blue rockers for my w2 heads. Can someone tell me if it is right or left so I know what to order for the other 4 (probably Crane Gold, same as the MP). Thanks!

Milling a set of TRW 13.5:1 Pistons

Depends on if the dome is hollow or not. I am sure you could have enough cut off to get it down to 11.5 or more. You need to find out the dome volume, your exact head cc, what compression you are shooting for, etc. I would probably re-sell them and get what you need. Or, do an E85 engine. lol

    Compression #'s for 69' 340

I had an Olds 455 like that, just one cylinder was 205, the others were 160-165, had a wipedout exhaust lobe.

    Some 360 engine improvements

My 72' 360 had factory flat tops, no reliefs std bore, just a rering back in the late 80's. They were rated at 8.8:1 for 71/72, but were so far down I wouldnt be suprised at how low they actually were. I stuck a windage tray in it, an old 224/[email protected] .460/.450 Crane cam, matching crane single...

    help please!!! serpinetine set up

Its been a while, but I think you have to fab up some type of bracket on the pass side for the idler or something, can't remember exactly right now, but I think one accessory bolt hole is missing. Pretty easy though from what I remember.

    Let's talk second hand camshafts.

Exactly what I was going to say. If its an engine you are willing to take a risk with, go for it.

    Best rocker shafts??

Saves me money too! lol. If I have to drill the holes to 3/8, is there a certain way to do it? I seem to remember some shafts having a sort of bevel around the hole.

    Best rocker shafts??

I am going to pick them up either monday or tuesday, so I will have a better idea then. I wasnt real sure if the shafts were different offset since they are the long valve econos. Another thanks!

    Best rocker shafts??

Good idea! I remember a thread I read once about upgrading the prw rocker sets with hardened shafts and better adjusters, and someone mentioned a company that sells hardened shafts, supposed to be really good. I can't find it yet.

    Best rocker shafts??

Where is the best place to buy rocker shafts for "995" Econo W2 heads? I am trying to read up on them, but you know how the internet is lol. These are the long valve version, and the rockers are the blue MP (well, there will be 4 RH intakes that are gold Cranes, from what I have been told the...

    LA Camshaft plate

Would it be normal procedure on a magnum engine to install a typical thrust plate in place of the tensioner if someone would have to change the timing set? I have only torn 3 magnums apart, one of them was a "remanufactured by chrysler" 5.2 with a tag riveted to the back of the block. None of...

    broken 1/4-20 Tap -->Smog Hole

We always used those things at work, had our taps in a drill to chase the holes in the locomotive cylinder jackets real fast. Some numbnut would tighten the drill chuck too much, tap would hit the bottom, and instead of slipping in the drill...snap! Depending on if the tap has 3 or 4...

Those bastids at ferd are at it again

I thought about it, but my brother just bought one lol. I gotta be different! Those -oyote engines appear to run good, I just think the torque from the crate motor would help my whale get moving quicker. Until everything else broke.

    Changing Cam Bearings

Just wanted to say I finally attempted it today, and was 100% sucessful. Now I just have to find one of the cam plugs that I SHOULD have from the many times I didn't use one that was included in a kit.

360 head porting for big power (500HP ?)

Did you ever get the chance to try these heads on the engine? How well would a set of 587 heads respond to alot of these mods, especially the guide boss/guide work? By the way, these heads look awesome!

    Changing Cam Bearings

I guess it just looked a little crowded in there with the assembly still in there. I think I will just make a line on the outside of the bearing with a sharpie opposite from the oil hole so I can tell a little easier if it is off or not.

    Changing Cam Bearings

I took the cam out of my 5.9 mag the other day, and all the bearings look great except the next-to-last bearing in the rear. It literally looks like some aluminum-loving termites made some trails on it. My question: can you swap out cam bearings with the rotating assembly in place? I have a...

    5.7 Hemi or Built 340?

I voted Hemi. I think once you get past the installation difficulties (not that it is super tough, other than doing your homework lol) you will be happier, especially since you arent shooting for originality, and it sounds like you are going for some modern-type handling upgrades. Seems pretty...

    Stall decision...I have 2 choices

I wish I didnt have to, but being unemployed with 6 kids makes it hard to come up with much cash. I am using parts that I already had laying around, except the cam, timing set, etc. I even redrilled the heads myself so I didnt have to buy an intake lol. I cant think of anything I have that I...
