Big Block power with better heads???

Every time this comes up I think of the Stage V Hemi heads for wedge blocks or the ball-stud hemi design....... either of which require different cam configuration because you go back to the evenly spaced ports like the old poly engines...

    crap t&t night

I just love it when guys that live at sea level or close to it give me crap about why my car is so slow..... Our average DA is usually 4000 ft. 12.40s up here gets into the 11s real quick in better air.... 280/480 hydraulic with de-burred 452 iron I'm happy!

what's the point of total seal rings ?

Only one ring in the set is the "gapless" one. the cross section looks like an "L" and it has a rail insert like the oil ring to seal the gap. I have used Total Seal brand on a couple of engines and noticed some improvement on crankcase evacuation. I have no other real comparison data.

first time down the track advise?

Pay attention to the tree operator. If they line you up with a full on race car be polite and don't let him burn down at the tree. Pull up when you are signaled. Staging is tricky sometimes, if you don't have solid bulbs or are deep staged the red light can burn you pretty easy.

Would like to get some more oomph from my 318

Yes that is the gear set. Conspicuous by its welded 4 gear planet setup and dual size sun gear. I have found in many cars the H or X pipe was the difference between and average take off and blowing the tires off. It can make that much difference. Not every car responds the same but it almost...

Would like to get some more oomph from my 318

Get the low first gear set for the 904. An H or X pipe will also improve the low end if you don't have one. Also check the advance curve settings for a good gain.

What's a reverse dome piston (small block)?

Technically because many are not a uniform shape. Some wordsmith decided to be more precise in description that "reverse dome" would better describe a "D" or heart shape indention rather than "dish".... :)
