    Intake choice.

I really don't take my carbureted cars up to the high country much. Generally stay in the 3700ft. to 7000ft. range for the most part. The drive on I-70 from here to Denver has 10800ft. and 11000ft climbs to go over. Different story with EFI. Haven't decided what is going to happen with the 340...

Yup I checked that first. It's standard rotation. It's a 1974 Super Bee III 340. Small cam and small heads.

Runners look different. I have an LD340 on my X-headed 360 in my 78 D100.

Well my county goes from 4300ft. to 10800ft. so that is a big variable. Not stroking it. Would be a street car.

Wow, a lot of real good info and points. Many thanks. I'm a Holley guy so I think the RPM is the one for me plus as stated it is made for these heads. Just starting a plan and trying to use what I have which is a fresh 340 boat motor, the set of RPM heads and the two manifolds. Don't even know...

For a 340 with Eddy RPM heads which would be a better intake? Eddy Preformer RPM or a Weiand 8007? Have not picked a cam. Many thanks.

under hood ductwork for twin or big single hood scoop

Always be real careful when using a large hole saw. I spent 30 years as a sparkie and used them almost daily sometimes. Back in the 80's I was drilling a 4.5" hole and twisted the drill up along with my wrist. 30 years later they ended up removing 3 bones from my wrist.

under hood ductwork for twin or big single hood scoop

Also starting the hole saw itself slowly in reverse to get a smooth track started helps too.

A knockout punch would be better.

under hood ductwork for twin or big single hood scoop

I went with the snorkel scoop cuz I like the look and then cut out the center like so. The plan is to use the later B body N96 air cleaner with some sort of outer seal.

    Fill neck grommet issue

Dish soap works great. DMT and 521 Restorations is where I get mine.

Also both fill tubes go inside the quarter, not outside. All 72-down do.

    Fuel filler neck

70 used the same vent setup as 69. I did the same for my 72 Dart. Wanted the 1970 18gal versa the 71-up 16gal tank. The fill hole is about an inch off between the two. Also the hole in the trunk floor and the boot are also different. @Matt2000 welded in a new hole in the trunk pan. I haven't...

    Fuel Line Choice and size

Factory 440 and Hemi use 3/8" supply and a 1/4" return.

    Fuel Line Choice and size

That is a hell of a pump for a 750 cfm even at wot. A 3/8" feed with a 1/4" return and a smaller pump is plenty to feed a 750.

    Stinky Idle

What do the plugs look like? Was this carb just installed "out of the box"?

What size carburetor should I be using LA 360 engine?

It is more complicated now. That is why I keep owning 90's Dakotas. I can diagnose and fix them myself. My son is a tech at the local Dodge dealership and the computer diagnosis stuff is what he does. Way more advanced and complicated now than in the 90's.

What size carburetor should I be using LA 360 engine?

Unless your cam is in the lower to upper .500 lift range the 670cfm carb is plenty good. Your carb is probably not on the idle circuit is the reason it is stalling when put into gear. Could be a vacuum leak too. Your "mechanic" should know this.

Filler neck interchange/fuel tank vent question

The hole in the trunk pan hole for the filler tube changed in 1972. I tried the same thing for my 1972. I wanted the 1970 18 gal tank versa the 1972 16 gal and thought I'd try the 1970 fill tube with the vent nipple. The vent tube goes down through the fill tube boot on the pan which also change...

Sending unit has weird vent thing

Actually 440hp and Hemi cars had a 2 nipple s/unit. 3/8" supply and 1/4" return. They had a vapor separator canister by the fuel pump where the 1/4" return lines starts and ends up at the 1/4" on the sending unit.

    N96 One-of-None 1972 Demon Fresh-Air Hood

I just used a cutoff wheel and followed the structure, actually my friend did it for me. I'm thinking about trying an air cleaner setup from a 71-2 B-body with N-96 hood and seeing how well that will seal to the hood. I'm concerned about the rain water getting into my air filter and that setup...

    360 2v vs. 383 2v

All I know is that using the same truck, pulling the same load up the same mountains, was a noticeable difference in power with the 1850. Also when filling up on the other side of the mountains. Tried this with 4 different trucks with the same results. Also here nothing works "out of the box"...

    360 2v vs. 383 2v

The Carter BBD is a much better, more reliable carb then the Holley. I've had a few 360 and 400 motors with the Holley 2-bbl and had nothing but problems with them. Replaced them with a Holley 1850 4-bbl and got more power and better fuel mileage. Had have a few motors with the Carter BBD and...

Vent line question on 1970 Dart

Correct. It vents into the frame rail Unless your car is coded N95 for 1970 California. In that case it goes to a vapor tank and then to the valve cover breather cap.

    4 vent gas tank.

I guess I just don't speak Canadian but glad you figured it out.
  28. moparmarks

    4 vent gas tank.

440's and Hemis had a 1/4" return line but like said you would want to maintain the vapor system or use a vented gas cap.

    4 vent gas tank.

I guess it would work. Would just dump fuel back into the tank
