68 did have the burl wood. Not sure if it was one year only or just for the 68 Barracuda deluxe package. It was also on the interior door panel inserts. The others I've seen are the straight grain like in previous picture. This is from the the 68 Barracuda brochure. Good idea for a thread Rani!

I agree factory was cover the seams then paint. That's the way it is on mine and how I've been redoing doing it.

I have roof anchors in my 68 Barracuda you can feel them through the head liner just above the side window near the back of the front seats. Not sure about the Valiant.

Mine was carpeted on the side that faces the interior an painted black on the trunk side before I removed the interior. It plywood not quite sure about the thickness. I think there may have been another thread about this too, but don't remember who started it. You might try a search.

My 68 fish has the suede finish on the dash and the gloss on the tops of the doors . Gloss also on the metal around the inside of the rear window. It's the original paint I haven't done anything to it yet. I believe they used the suede paint to cut the glare form the sun coming through the wind...
