Dead cylinder on new engine ( what in the he// happened? )

You never know. When you had it apart and the intake set aside some furry little beast could have built a nest in the passage of the intake. It doesn't take them long to do it. I pulled my radiator hoses off and forgot to replace them. It sat for awhile that way. I decided to pull it to check...

If no fuel is getting into the cylinder pull the intake off and check it over for a crack , bad gasket, or something obstructing the passage way.

    Loud beeping sound under hood

That only tells if the belts are slipping. If the water pump or the tension pulley bearing was going removing the belts the noise should stop.

    Loud beeping sound under hood

Is it a beep or a shrill squeak. If a squeak it could be your water pump. If you have A/C could be tension pulley if there is one. After your car is warmed up to temp and starts making the noise. Shut it down and remove the belts start it up and see if the noise is gone. Also when you have it...

    150 HP LA 318 - vs - 230 HP Magnum 318

That could be the reason the 1968 la 318 2barrel carb. has 230hp at 4400 rmp and the 1976 360 4 barrel carb. has 220hp at 4400 rpm or could be due to the pollution crap on the newer engine.

    Engine won't cool off!!

Make sure your lower rad hose is not collapsing . Use 50/50 coolant . Altitude will also have effect on boiling points. 212 degrees F is the boiling point of water at sea level and will decrees the higher you get above sea level. Coolant helps stabilize it. I'm sure you're using coolant/...

paint on the inside of heads flaking

Just to be on the safe side I'd drop the oil pan to make sure there's no crap in it that would plug the pickup screen. Might be a little extra work but it will also give you peace of mind.

    truck 318 into 69 cuda

67Dart273 is right the LA318 and the Magnum 318 do differ read below. The last 3 sentences especially. This was copied from a web site. It appears you'll need a pan that year engine. Magnum engines did, however make some inroads into the traditional performance world, thanks in part to the...

    Sputtering 318! Please help

Sounds like a problem I had with a 69 Chebby pickup. Check the screws and carb to manifold bolts. They don't have to be to loose and you can get a vacuum leak. Mine weren't that loose and it started sucking air. The filter would be the first thing I'd check. The cheapest and easiest. Good luck.

make sure your pcv vacuum hose isn't collapsing on you. Check the vacuum port on the carb also there might be a piece of gunk in it. Those are the simplest and cheapest to do.

    pesky untracable oil leak...

You should use a pcv valve. Here's a little explanation of the pcv valve and how it works for you. PCV valve The PCV valve connects the crankcase to the intake manifold from a location more-or-less opposite the breather connection. Typical locations include the opposite valve cover that the...

    pesky untracable oil leak...

I've never seen it go into the intake.Only into the carb. The service manual shows it going into the carb. It says there are two type of pcv systems fully closed system . Which has two hose one goes from the pcv valve to the carb and the other hose goes from the breather on the driver side to...

    pesky untracable oil leak...

I have to agree with 66340Sedan about putting a pcv in it. My dad had one plug up in 20 below weather and it puke oil all over out the dip stick tube. One of my nephews had a collapsed pcv hose ( previous owner) put the wrong type of hose on it. It did the same thing. I told him to get it...

    Engine colours

My 68 318 is red. It's the original paint. If looked at other charts and they say 318s up to 69 are red after that they're blue. So paint it what pleases you it's your car. Personally they look better red or orange.

    Thermoquad Question.................

I'd check out the cheaper stuff first like filter, hoses, and fuel pump. Then if those aren't the problem then move to the more major stuff. You might save yourself some cash. I know from experience. Good luck

Check out pic's of destruction,Caution Graphic Photos!

You know you might be able to sell those push rods on ebay for good money. You could say they help the performance curve. Someone might be gullible enough. The sculpture idea was great you could call it Bad Timing I just hope they didn't mess anything up!

    Name that clip! (pic)

I see you have a 67 Fastback Fish. If it has a fold down rear seat like my 68. Check the rear seat locking mechanism see if your missing a spring from that. There are some springs that look similar on the latch and the handle part. That's just by looking at the service manual diagram. Might...
