Some info on your suspension setup might be very helpful with figuring out your launch issues.You will have to spent plenty of T&T to finally get it right,at least it did for me when I was racing my 4 speed car.I gave up and built my 66 Dart with auto,which is much easier on parts and the car.

Time to invest in some adj. rocker arms to save your investment(408). I run Pro Magnums rockers on my 408 with Eddy heads and big solid roller cam...never an issue.

Needs more rear gear.JMO With 33,s on the back,4.30 isn,t enough.I run in the 10,s with 4.30 and a 29 inch tire(as example)

I,m just wondering what your expecting from a mild 340,4 speed at the track?If you spun through 2 gears and still managed a 12.90@109mph your doing pretty good IMO.Maybe a list of your engine build?

I run 81/89 in my AED 850 HO..depends on weather.Carb came with 79/87.

Mine are homemade yes,but bought from another Early-A racer.

Try them out,if you don,t like them,switch back.JMO

It looks like a valve hit #3cylinder,s piston(bend valve?)and some major detonation in cyl #5.Still a good buy for $170,atleast now you know what you have.:D

I,m guessing someone built the motor with high compression(12.5-13-1),can,t run on pump gas?Run the car with race fuel(C12)no pump gas and see how it does.Sounds like somebody already got frustrated with the car.Pull the heads and see what pistons you have in there.JMO

I run the Brad Penn 20\50 in my 408 stroker race car.No complaints.

I run an AED850 carb(modified Holley)which Summit now carry,s on my stroked 360(410ci).I also run a Coan 8 inch 4500 stall matched to my .631 solid roller cam.When buying your convertor,make sure to mention your combo...cam,gears,tire size so they get you the right one.Good luck.

If you plan on seeing the track a bunch over the summertime,I,d switch to some 3.91,s.Just run a taller 15 inch tire on back for street use.JMO.With the 3.23,s you,ll just be starting to go in 3rd.

105 mph is about a 12.50 pass.I think his 60fts are hurting due to the bogging off the line.Need to find out why the bog?A 750 vacuum secondarie carb(3310)may help.JMO

What RPM is he launching at?Tire pressure?Is he spinning at all??

I bought my Eddy,s from a member,when I had them checked they flowed 240cfm OTB.After paying for some clean up porting,guides,springs they got them flowing in the 275cfm range.Cost me but am happy with the results.:D I have close to $2000 plus the cost of Pro Magnum rockers,Manley push rods.

Apparently a clutch fan will save you 7-12 up.I run records stock 2 core rad with a clutch fan with my 410 in my 66 Dart.It runs very cool.Oh no thermostat either.Alls good after 180 passes.

Maybe get another tank and sump it,remove your good (original one)for later. Maybe time for another car,so you can build,hack into for what you really want?:burnout:

I,be ran 120 passes with 7260/7290 u-joints behind my 410.you should look into building your trans. up and get a good stall convertor.jmo

Run the car in the dark with the hood open,see if there,s any spark jumping from your plug wires?I once had this problem on #5,7 cylinders on a 340.I now use boot covers with no problems.Just a thought..

Hey Rob,my narrowed 8 3/4 housing was 46 5/8 plus 2 1/2 inch brakes,so overall was 51 5/8.My axels are 25 inches from splined end to wheel mount.I talked with my friend thats doing the narrowing and he will get me the proper size axels.Your measurements sound right for my application.Thanks...

Does he respline axels?I have 35 spline already,but are B-boby length.

I have a Dana 60 I,m getting narrowed to the exact width of my narrowed 8 3/4.My 8 3/4 is 46 5/8(basically 3 inches off each side of A-body width 52 5/8)My axels are 25 inches(A-body with is 27 11/16)in the narrowed 8 3/4.I,m gonna run a spool in the Dana,so if my housing is 46 5/8 inches...
