Well the body shop lost the little front spear trim I am looking and then...........months later I realize something doesn't look right and the DODGE trim that runs the length of the trunk is missing. So I go back w/ pix etc. but it's too late.
So I get another off these off ebay -- not as...
Please see pix here. Gasket/seal in drivers window is missing. What is this part called? Where can I get it? Also see 2 pix of leading edge of vent windows...they have some rough condiition rubber gasket/seals. Were these stock? OR just put on by someone to cut down wind noise?
What would I...
See the pix here.. .the seal in the rearwared end of the driver's window is missing -- I am sure there are plenty of sources but don't know what this part is called and so can't find it on sites... you see it is msssing and there's lots of wind noise in this 64 Dart convert plus rain could get...
You know the V shaped chrome pieces that joing the upper and lower side spears? I think rear ones are longer than front ones, but are driver / passenger side ones different. I need passenger side front. Any part # on that. Saw one on ebay but don't know if it's right. Sellers doesn't know...
Never heard of U jamb before. But this worn out bit on the '64 Dart needs replacing and it's called a u jamb seal. One place has them but just as part of a kit of a bunch of things. I just need the pair of these. Any ideas?
thanks,
Bob B
I found 2 small metal pieces bolted into the inside of my rear bumper that made me think they were for mounting those small round red reflectors that sometimes were optional pieces on older cars. Did 60s MoPar have this?
Found this old thread w/ pix that was same as my querstion... how is trunk seal oriented?
http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?t=57292
Someone is suggesting there is a totally better design seal but it sure looks square and weird to me.
Anyway do you all agree or not...
I got a trunk seal from ebay... pretty generic looking thing. The 'experts' at the body shop don't know what orientation is correct. What I don't want is them making a big glue-y mess.
I tried to get 2 pix. This one isn't all the that wide... itsets down in the channel... one side has a...
Well as many here know I am going nuts trying to find molding clips for my 64 dart... they could be all different for your year. We did find the clips for lower trim but not upper trim.
Big headache. I would say if you know what they are use new. But there are ebay types looking for $3 each...
problem is there are 125 of them but you have given tme the idea of making them thinner by grinding them down on stone wheel.... still the right ones have to be out there...
Well I was all over the board last fall when the 64 Dart GT convert project got started.. .the convertible top people were good, the mechanical guys good... although not done yet w/ them.... body shop less so. I had taken it to them since they did a good job on my Accord wagon repaint 2 yrs ago...
Here is a top view. Does this help. It's possible something from the top view here may be broken off
I gotta get these or somethign that works for '64 Dart side spears.
For my 64 Dart, the lower rocker panel molding clips were shown here, and they're actually listed as a later 60s part. But since this car had been repainted once before I guess they found a later part worked. So may be the case for this side spear molding clip it had... we need 128 of these...
I am having a prob finding molding clips for my '64 Dart to get the cool side spears back on.
And it does have holes, 128, to be exact.
However, this car had been repainted once and we found the different type of clips using for the rocker panel molding strips (only 18 of these) were...
Thank you for this info. Unclear what you mean be fittings, etc This ebay kit referenced doesn't mention Dart. Would it be different? I guess there were ones in there that came out during the 1st repaint. They just looked odd like that and I recall sealed openings on many cars, not just Mopars
Here in this pix you see an opening. Water sure could run down there, going who knows where, rusting out stuff? Did '64 Darts ever have any rubber ring to close up that opening? I guess is possible they did not.
I am getting new trunk seal, hood/cowl seal, etc. but am wondering if 64 Dart had rubber rings as wiper post seals, that quite a few cars had. So far I have not found anything that suggests this, but just would like to check.
thanks,
Bob B
Well the paint shop is coming along on the '64 Dart and I have to find side view mirrors. The original round ones are too damn small!
I need a set of metal rectangular ones. I had bought a pair of Roberk ones off ebay, thinking they must be metal but they were cheap plastic... and they almost...
Anyone have a source for the molding/exterior trim clips shown here? The 64 Dart side spears are the long one (5/8") long. We need 128 of them!!
The square one is 1/2" square and only 20 or so of those. Those are for molding along the bottom.
Will check around but tips on sources would...
Well, you see it... in the shop, primer on etc.
I have to supply rubber trim.. I had inquired a few days ago and got some sources from you all. But my question is
ARe there just 2 rubber seal pieces? The trunk seal and one that runs along the firewall area, perhaps sealiing with the rear...
My 1964 Dart repainting / restoration is coming along. There are two plastic body plugs up under the hood, each on front fenders and I have located replacements. But we need a new trunk seal. Ebay has them, JC Whitney has them -- but do those here assembled have any recommendation, sources or...
Going to replace the original small round sidevierws on both sides with something larger, more rectangular. Of course there are loads of options, stuff on ebay, etc. But if there's any OEM mopar ones or repros of them, I would like to know to get something close to correct-- if those types...
Even tho original I don't like the small round side view mirrors the '64 Dart has, and want something more rectangular... anyone think these would look ok? I jsut dont' have a grip on what is close to correct for the era, and what would look odd. But the little round ones just don't show enough...
on the back it has interio colors... like paint used on dash, etc. Since posting last night I bought another '64 dodge paitn color chip sheet --different than the one I have now.
But yes, having whatever paint color/mixing info there is to recreate the '64 Ivory color without just guessing...
Thanks for the replies. I have just never seen another Dart in this color, or those that had it were repainted something else.
Looking at this paint chip sheet, it is paint code ss-1, and and other number under the chip is 81403 and it is called ivory. So I was just wondering how they can get...
Well have posted before about trollin' for a '64 dart gt convert, and getting it to be like my old one was which means repainting it. Mine was this ivory sort of color (w/ black trim), which appears to have been a stock Dodge color for that year. I actually found an original Mopar paint chip...
