After the oven cleaner....Wipe it down with a good paint prep product, pre-kleeno, metal prep etc...when the wiping towels are not black anymore and wipe off clean you're ready to paint. Most of the engine specific sprays are good nowadays....VHT, plasti-kote etc

Not sure how much work RMD's were done on a CNC ($$), they started with flat stock aluminum bent on a brake after being cutout on a dynatorch (or sim machine). Then welded the gauge pocket pieces together. If ya need the CAD/solidworks stuff done this car guy can help...
