To swap in an 8 and 3/4 or not ?

Unless your pumping big horse power to the rear wheels I'd look for a sure grip for the 8.25.

Drive shaft in or out? With it out and the front end jacked in the air it is possible for it to leak.

New guy, What tranny should go behind a 360?

A lot of guys beef up the 904, they're a little lighter then the 727. Nothing wrong with a 727 though. One thing the two of them use different length drive lines. I'm going with a 904 but that's because that's what I have and I don't want the expense of modifying my drive line.

I see he's selling them for $300 now, I must have paid $285 not $185 for them.

    Redrill or buy new?

Was about a year ago, came with the green barring already on just had to bolt them in. I actually took the backing plates off of a bbp 7 1/4 rear end that was in the dart. They bolted right up and where bigger brakes then the 8 3/4 had on it. Also came with the wheel studs in the axle.

    8 1/4 or 8 3/4 rear end in my Duster 340?

Found it. This says it was in 73s Chrysler 8 3/4" Rear Axle & Swap Information Chrysler Corporation's 8.75" rear axle assembly first appeared in 1957. The measurement refers to the 8-3/4" diameter ring gear. This gear, which is turned by the pinion gear, changes the direction of the power...

    8 1/4 or 8 3/4 rear end in my Duster 340?

Thought I read some where that the 8.75 was used through the 1972 model year. After that it was the 8.25. I'm not a 100% on this though.

Transmition lines, how do i make them?

We used 3/8 but I think stock is 5/16. We're going to make a set for my dart and I'll use the 5/16 so I can use the same fittings. We only used the 3/8 because that was what we thought the lines where. Didn't take long to figure out that wasn't right.

    Can I keep my driveshaft?

I think the V8 driveline is more heavy duty then the 6cyl. one. If it was a 904 car and your keeping it 904 they might be the same length.

Transmition lines, how do i make them?

We bought a bender at Harbor Freight for about 25 bucks. Used aluminum lines and they came out great.

    Torque Converter Install

It can be converted (I checked into it and it's a little pricey), but what I'm doing is I bought a 72 904 and am going to overhaul it. Then I can use the stall speed converter that a bought 2 years ago before I found out my tranny was the lock up type.
  29. stansblue72

    Torque Converter Install

Look at your old converter and make sure it doesn't say lock up on it. I did the same thing and the problem was mine is a 76 tranny with a lock up converter and the splines or something are different.
