Nice looking dart!

I run 3.23 in my dart. It's doing 2600 rpm's at 60 mph. Son in law has 3.55's. Both seem like okay gears for cruising.

Thought I would see if anyone might have an idea of what's going on with my 318. It will fire right up and run like a champ, I let it warm up to temp and shut it off. If I try to start it right back up it starts fine. If I wait about 10 to 15 minuets it won't start. Acts like it is flooded...

I was getting about 11 mpg with this 318 in my old dart.

I have a 318 in my shop we got not to long ago and I just pulled the valve covers off to see which heads it has on it. The casting number is: 43233302 The chart I found online says they are 318 85 - 86 Fast burn Are they good heads?

Nope, the first one I tried was a Fram and I couldn't get it in there because it was a little longer than the NAPA gold. Good thing I'm thinking! :D

I use one of these: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/DCC-4286800/ With the gear out it drives the pump using a drill. Works really good.

We put some J heads on a 360 roller, we had the holes for the push rods bored out bigger to accommodate the push rod angle and it seems to work fine. We also put on roller rockers and order push rods to the length we needed.

360 ready to go back in.

I have one with a casting date of 1/72 that came out of a motor home.

We have a 91 360 in a dart with some early J heads on it. The only thing we had to have done to the heads was have the holes the push rods go through made bigger. With the hole the stock size the push rods rubbed. When we put the heads (91 vs J heads) side by side you could see the 91 heads had...

I bought one from NAPA for a 96 dakota with a 318 and it fits fine, it's a lot smaller then then the stock one. Can't remember what I paid but I'm sure it was less then $100. My headers aren't tight tube though.

My dart was doing some of that same stuff, we fixed it by putting a spacer between the carb and manifold.

To go from power to manual steering requires a manual steering box and an adapter for the steering column. The power steering column is shorter than the manual. Not to hard to do. And Welcome to FABO!

Sounds like your going to give it a good tune up, that's what I would do too. Don't forget the fuel filter and check the timing.

They tested the valve springs and said the ones that where on the heads are way to weak for the cam that is in the car. On a note they knew all the cam specs. The place that did the heads is going completely go through them at no cost to us. Should be getting them back soon. Also getting new...

I see it now I was looking down the bore farther. When I run my finger around the inside I don't feel anything sticking in the bore. Do you think that small of a nick will cause problems? You got a good eye there moper!

Thats a refection from the flash

No marks on the block just the top of the piston. The head will be going back to the shop to get completely checked out. New stiffer springs might be a good idea too!
