    Worst coolant I've ever seen

A college girl came in with a Jeep Wrangle and a complaint of no heat. The pictures are what we found. I've never seen coolant so bad. We flushed out with water, twice with Dawn dish soap, water two more times, and then it was clear enough to add coolant. And she had heat. The lesson here is...

Heater duct hose size 73 Dart Sport?

I feel kind of lazy posting this, but my car is home and I am at work, so I can't measure the hose. I want to order some while I am bored at work. Does anyone know the size of the heater duct hose? Classic Industries doesn't list it by vehicle, but by size. Or maybe someone knows of a hardware...

Should I leave the heater box out?

My heater core was leaking, so I took out the heater box and evaporator box. I don't use air conditioning anymore and rarely use the heat. I'm thinking of making block of plates and leaving everything out. All I'd be out is the cost of the heater core, and I can always put it back in later. Any...

Any tips for installing new heater core?

Last year I got a little fog on my windows even on hot days. I didn't smell coolant. Well, once in a while I could get a light smell, but I never found any other evidence of leaking. Today I put on my new heater hoses and while the cooling system was bleeding and I was waiting for the thermostat...

    New chrome heater hoses

I had a Coolflex upper radiator hose and wanted matching lower and heater hoses. Coolflex wanted $293 for the heater hoses. I cheaped out and bought some from eBay for $45. I got my $45 worth, but not much more. I conveniently forgot when you buy cheap parts, you get cheap parts. The clamps were...

Hose covers / clean up underhood ideas?

I put on a Coolflex upper hose a couple years ago. I love the look, hate the price. Their customer service left a whole lot to be desired as well. I really want to do the lower hose and the heater hoses as well, but the prices are ridiculous. Are there any really good looking covers that are...

    heater valve 88 LeBaron questions

I have a customer who has a 88 Lebaron 2.2 turbo at home and the heater valve is not correctly hooked up. It has four hose connections, one on one side and three on the other. It is vacuum operated. Anyone know where the hoses go or have a pic? I'd appreciate any help.

    New expansion tank finally!

My upgrades are slowing down. I haven't even installed my Coolflex hose yet. I Ordered this expansion tank from Speedway Motors on Sunday and it arrived today. I bought the 32 oz. version because the others seemed like so little coolant. Here are the pics.

Need some ideas/pics of coolant recovery tanks

I posted a little while ago about the Coolflex recovery tank I ordered. They no longer have a supplier for them, so I need to do something else. I want a good looking aluminum tank, and fairly small. Let's see those pics and hear your ideas! Here is what I was going to go with to match my...

Note to self: turn the @$%^ fans off when you get out!

I didn't order the thermostatic relay module when I went to electric fans. How hard can it be to turn off the fan when I get out? Well, one trip to Best Buy to buy a surprise gift for my wife and I come out to a dead battery. One $60 emergency roadside service call later and I learned the hard...

Do I need to seal the fan shroud to the radiator?

I put on the electric fans and my brother thinks I need to seal them for proper air flow. I think it wouldn't hurt, but with the gap being maybe a half inch I don't think it will matter. Opinions?

    Update on Champion radiator

Okay. Challengergary was great. The radiator is awesome. The fan assembly leaves something to be desired, but all in all it came together and I am happy. I have not driven it yet, so we'll have to see how it performs later. The minor gripe I have is not the radiator. It was supposed to be a...

I need some ideas on how to install this fan set up

Okay, the fan and shroud showed up today. The shroud doesn't fit the radiator so I had to drill new mounting holes. Then I had to drill holes to mount the fans. My problem is how I am going to mount the fan assembly to the radiator with the fans installed. The lip to mount on the radiator will...

Got new Champion aluminum radiator - starting install

I thought I would keep going with the updates. As I posted before, I had heard both good and bad things about Champion Radiators. I talked (emailed) with FABO member Challengergary and based upon his excellent customer service, I ordered a 3 core radiator and dual electric fan with shroud. The...

Ordered Champion aluminum radiator and electric fans!

I listened to a lot of advice and had a hard time finding an aluminum radiator that would fit without a bunch of shenanigans. I had heard both good and bad things about Champion, but since Challengergary is a FABO member I gave him a try. I sent an email at 11pm and when I got up at 6:30 my...

Where to buy 26" core aluminum radiator?

I am running hot in this hot summer weather. I need to lose the old single core radiator and go aluminum. My core now is 18" X 26" X 1 1/4". I am trying to find a direct fit and am getting frustrated. Any ideas for good brands at a good price and where to buy them?

    Freakin' water outlet won't seal!

When I put the motor in I put in the reducer that was with the motor instead of a thermostat and it sealed just fine. When I redid the intake, I decided to put in a 160 degree thermostat. I used a gasket and 3M weatherstrip adhesive like I always do and it seeped coolant. I took it off and...

Fan blade on Dart broke today

I hauled my motor to my buddies shop today, so I have the motor and tranny there waiting to go into the Dart in a week and a half. The time was almost perfect. I could drop off my brother's truck, drive home, drop the Dart at my buddies shop and be there just in time for my wife to get off work...
