I realize this is old stuff, but I'm just now seeing it. Killer info, I'm running the small clutch stuff also.
Year old info is still good. You can learn by others mistakes. LOL
Looking back on my 2 clutches, The original clutch I ordered from Phoenix Friction via E-Bay was a good looking clutch. For some reason, I didn't get it adjusted correctly from the start. It was either my mistake, the finger height was wrong, or the throw-out bearing was a bit different. The bearing was touching the fingers and it smoked the bearing and messed up the end of the fingers. If I were to do that clutch again, I would replace the t/o-bearing with a quality one and have the clutch checked by the local Clutchmasters shop. The second clutch was From Brewers Perf. and just for safety's sake, I had Clutchmasters check it out. They said it was perfect and it worked good from the start. I thought I was having a problem just a few days ago because the pedal stuck to the floor when I tried powershifting second but I re adjusted it and it seems fine now. I haven't tried powershifting it since I readjusted but the pedal returns up to the top which it didn't before with either clutch. Mike
Mike,I had a lengthy discussion with a good customer of mine that sets up his own clutches for his own race cars and many other "stick shifters". Borg and Beck clutches are noted for sticking to the floor with higher rpm's. He uses only "Long style" clutches in his race cars because of this. tmm
Mike,
Any update on your clutch? I just took the engine out of the D/Dart and was thinking about replacing the clutch. I thought the previous owner put in a 10.5 setup in it but I was wrong. So I am looking for knowledge. And that is you.
