Does anyone have 17 x 8 w/ 4.5" BS on all four wheels? If so, what size tires are you running front & rear? Any issues with clearance, handling or spacer requirements? Stock front end with 8.75 w/BBP/ drums in rear. Post pics if you are running this set-up...please.

The wheels that I am looking at are not yet available in an 17 x 7 w/ 4" BS, so considering going with the 17 x 8 w/ 4.5" BS on all fours.

Thanks in advance for your help or thoughts.

Check summitracing.com. I think they have a 17x7 with 4.25bs in a cragar wheel.

I'm in the same situation I want a set of rocket racing 17x7 w/4.25" bs or possibally 17x8 w/ 4.5" bs for the front, going with 18x9 in the rear with a full tub. Hopefully you'll get some answers on this post . I'll be watching, if you find something out how about dropping me a line....

I'll bite. I've got 17x8 but they are the 6.29" bs mustang wheels with 1.5" spacers on the front. 245/40/17 tires on the front and 245/45/17 on the rear. I did have some exploder wheels that were 4 3/4 bs and they didn't hit anything but were VERY close with stock suspension on my 73.

You have 4.79" effective backspacing now. Are the 245/40/17 tires close to the front bottom fender edge? Could you run 245/45/17's up front?

Where the Expolerer rims with 4.75" backspacing much closer than what you have now? What part of the stock suspension was it close to? I've seen guys run over 5.00" backspacing with 17" rims. But different rims can have different inside clearances.

I run 15x8 with 4.5" backspacing. A 17" should have much more room for more backspacing.

I would never run 4.0" front backspacing with 17x7 or 17x8. Or you'll have to run a real thin side wall tire.

I'm considering 18x9s in front with 5.75 bs and wonder how they would work with 73+ discs. Sorry to hijack...
