I wonder if there is an aftermarket one that fits the original bracket that's looks ok.
I haven't tried it but I did buy a 65 tach for cheap that doesn't work and just haven't got around to try to fit another tach into the chrome bezel.
Thanks, but I got one.I have one with very similar font design. I got it in with a buy stash of parts I bought from a guy that was trying to build a '65 Barracuda Formula S convertible...a car that Plymouth never built.
I can post pictures and will sell it to anyone interested. I also have a factory sending unit for a factory tach.

That would be a 270° sweep tach. That might narrow your choices.Cliff, that's a perfect conversion! But the needle is white?
Even got the correct degrees sweep. Do you remember what model that tach was or what it was out of?
Pishta, it was a tach I bought at some auto parts store because it was the right diameter.... Now, Wish I had kept the box it came in !!! But I posted the pictures hoping someone might be able to recognize it... maybe from the numbers printed on the back end ??? And, yeah, I could have painted the Needle Fluorescent Orange after prying off the tach bezel.... just never thought of it at that time as I was not doing it for my use...Cliff, that's a perfect conversion! Phooey on the tach....lol, how did you come up with the 150 mph speedometer? My 65 didn't come with a tach, and I never had a 65 bezel to put an aftermarket tach in, but I have been running this J.C. Whitney tach in more or less the stock location since the early seventies. I'm kind of amazed it still works.

Came out of my Mom's 71 Duster 340 that my brother rolled in the early 80s. Never got around to hooking up the trip odometer.Phooey on the tach....lol, how did you come up with the 150 mph speedometer?![]()
You can also use the tachometer from the B and C body. They are virtually the same minus the fancy cover. The trim ring looks pretty good if you don't have the fancy 1965 Barracuda cover. They are much easier to find and have the same face as the Barracuda tach. I added one to a non-formula S car 20 or 30 years ago. I pushed it thru the dash face and used the 3 mounting holes in the tach body for jacking bolts to secure it to the dash. There are usually several of the B and C body tachs on Ebay.
Good Morning Peter,Do you have any photos of the B and C ones, at all ? Or do they look identical ?
I just did a quick look on Ebay and far out.....not cheap.
Good Morning Peter,
Sorry I havent been able to sign on consistently. I do have close up pictures of the tach and side by side pictures of each one compared to the original Barracuda tach. It appears you have already seen them on EBAY. They are salty but cheaper than a Barracuda tach (when you can find one) by at least half or more. Ill try and post the side by side pics here today. Jeff
I didnt realize you already had one Peter. By all means repair is your best option. They also sell replacement boards if you upgrade to electronic ign. Have a great day mate.Hey mate……no worries.
I had a look at the eBay ones thinking they might be a cheaper option, but Nup.
I’m going to take my original one to an instrument repairer and see what they think. It’s got movement, but something isn’t right.
