Hello all,

I came across a 65 Dart GT convertible today. It's a v-8, 4 spd, needs a resto but not a basket case. Anyway, I could not find the fender tag - any place it might be other than the top of the inner fender by the battery? Also ,there is a vin tag on the lower A pillar but it's only 8 digits.......isn't this incorrect? I believe it should have a few more digits but i'm no connoisseur.

And There is no such thing as numbers matching on a '65, correct?

Guy also has a '64 dart htp 273 for sale, needs a resto as well but runs/drives.

If the vin tag is spot welded it's correct. I've seen factory vin tags with only 8 digits. The reason I do not knot but for sure I know you can't have maching numbers engine/tranny and rear end combination. Start to check the date on the engine block on the right side and compare with the date on the intake manifold. It's the quickest way to get anides.

The vin number wasusually like this L452 186 564. If the stsmped it shorter they skipped the the L 4.

Good luck.
