1965 Dodge Dart Charger

Some of them also came with 13" Bluelines. Had to be ordered that way

Hmmmmmm.......I never heard or seen this, I believe the Good Year Blue Streak "street tire" (not the Blue Streak racing tires) were only available in 14" and 15"

Keith! Years ago on Ebay, I found a Blue Streak Racing tire in 13"!! A for racing only tire with no threads. It is in mint NOS condition. But the tire is hard like a rock! The stamped label is still there;

Shipper; Goodyear, Akron, OH

Consignee; Carrol Shelby, Gardena, CA

I will get a picture when I get home from Norway!

Keith! Didn't your dad had a mint Goodyear Blue Streak tire in the trunk?

After loosing the front fender from one of the wagons I found out how Chrysler dipped the body in primer back in the day. Valuable information!

After over a year ago I started with the Cragar S/S wheels. A friend of mine helped me to grind off the welds on the backside. I glass beaded the center and polished the spokes. The rims Went to the chrome shop in centrsla Sweden.

Today the first two wheels showed up from my friend Bosse who helped me to weld the centers back in place. With the first wheel he had some problem. He could not get a good looking weld!! After some phone calls to an older tire guy he said that grind of the iron in the aluminium centers first. The reason is simple that the glass etched in the iron and when you weld it will be alot of bad welds. So after that the second wheel went like a walk in the park!!

What do you think?

Now I need to find out if the centers where chromed or polished on the first years of Cragar S/S wheels. Any info out there?

I also need to drill the holes in the center caps for the pins from the emblems.

Yesterday I found the NOS valve stems I bought several years ago. In 1965 there was two models avialible. On eversion was 1/2" long and the other one 1 1/2" long. On two of my Wheels there was the factory valve stems and they where 1 1/2" long.

This is how they looked. Manufactured by DILL. Have DILL on the back on the valve and on the hat too!

I have started with the interior. My interior is white with gold backside on the front seats. The back seat is all white. The package tray was gone when I bought the car. I know that the headliner was white with white sun visors.

But the question is; what color was the package tray? Gold or white?

My money is on a gold package tray. I have never seen a factory white package tray in one of these cars. (But I'm not an expert and have been proven wrong much more than once. lol)

You are making good progress on the car. I'm anxiously awaiting pics of it finished. Great thread. :thumblef:

Thanks Dallas! You're guess is mine too. Actually I haven't seen a car with a white/gold interior with the package tray at all!!!!

I would love to get a picture as a proof. I could not find out in the partsbook either.

Re the car I would like to see it finished too. Thrust me, but it' time consuming!

Besides the interior I'm making all the chrome ready for the chrome guys. But the outer bracket on the bumper, what finish should it be? I have checked out mine and cannot find any special finish!!!!! :banghead:

Any help is appriciated.

I have several of those brackets and although most of them are rusty, several do have traces of black paint on them. Gloss, satin or flat Or some combination of them I cannot say.

Thanks Don! A guy from Southern Sweden will show up tomorrow with a mint bracket. Hopefully! Might be some kind of black.

Was there any protection on the inside of the bumpers after the chrome procedure?

Yeah, it's a process called "surface rust"!

(No, there was none)

Thanks Dan! I like the surface rust procedure. However it seems that Chrysler was way into this procedure back in the days! But I guess that made the cars cheaper to produce! LOL

Got the answer today, next week the tire shop will start to try to get the white walls in same size! It will be a killer......! :coffee2:

The wiring harness inside the trunk lid is inside some kind of protection. I was told by someone here at FABO but CRS has strike me again.

Does anyone know what it's called? I saw it on Ebay too a while ago but.....:banghead::banghead::banghead:

Thanks for the reply chryslerfat! I found the one pictured on ebay and bought it!

When I got home I took it apart and glass beaded the bulb sockets. I need to get new finish on them. However I want to cut the outer end and put a new one there. Does anyone know if they are to be found some where? I don't even know the name on it!!! :banghead:

I found the partnumber on one of the cables!! So now you know if you have the right one LOL!

All the correct sockets are still available new in the Echlin and Standard product lines. I used to have catalogues that would have allowed me to give part numbers, but I had to get rid of them -- Ray at Old Car Parts Northwest has them now.

Thanks Dan! I willcheck themout asap!

Today I dis-assembled my NOS taillights! Except for the backside they are in mint condition. Through Roger Gibson in US I was able to get in contact with a company that can provide the right finish on the backside! It seems like green/gold finish of some kind.

I know that nobody cares what finish it is on the backside but assembly line correct is......assembly line correct! So hopefully the judges would be all over it!

Found a picture from a car that Don Hudson (65 dartman) told me about at the 2009 Mopar Nats.Talked with the owner and he bought it brand new. This how the backside of the tail light looked like on his can. The nuts holding the tail lights should be yellow dichromated.

Yesterday I recieved the asphalytic loom for the trunk wiring! After some good cleaning of the cables and some polishing on the male it looked like new. Into the loom and it looked great.

Now I have an issue. The sockets should be some kind of silver/yellow finish. Any one know what the finish is called? I know for sure that it is not silver cad or silver zinc!

The wiring the goes from the main harness to the left tail light seems to be in different models. Actually it's just the cables that is different from each other. Can it be different assembly plants or different suppliers?

I talked with M&H on Friday and this is the dimension I came up with. If someone have a positive cable that you can take measurements I would be really glad.
