I am trying to fix the horn on my 1966 Barracuda. When I purchased the car, the previous owner put a doorbell button under the dash for the horn. I want to fix it the way it is supposed to be but I don't know what parts are needed. Believe it or not when I took the steering wheel off, there was a tuna fish can under it and it was just all jury rigged. I purchased the service Manuel and I can't find anywhere in it, the parts diagram for the steering column. I looked in the obvious chapters and it's nowhere to be found. Can anyone help me so I can order the parts and get this together?

The following image from the 1966 Parts Catalog shows a breakdown of the steering column:

The parts catalog can be downloaded from the following link to look up the parts in the text portions from some more detail:

1966 Chrysler Parts Catalog

The link is to a compressed (zip) PDF.

The 1966 Plymouth service manual discusses some procedures involving the steering column in the Turn Signals sub-section of the Electrical section (8), and in the coverage of the steering column and shifter mechanisms areas in the transmission sections (21, manual and automatic), but without detail pictures of the horn button area like that in the parts catalog.

Assuming your steering wheel isn't damaged or modified, It looks like you need everything else. I don't see a photo of your turn signal switch or housing, so , I don't know what you need there, but, from what I can see, this is what I think you need.
2530256 horn button retainer
2768269 horn button (yours is missing the retainer plate)
2076543 contact switch
2497588 contact ring with wire
2258704 cancel cam ring

Some of those items are not all that easy to find these days. Good Luck!

There is a insulating washer and a ring with limb sticking up/out that cancels turn switch. All available in aftermarket. That signal switch has a small spring loaded contact for the horn function.
A new switch probably won't have the little roller on top of its horn contact unless OEM.

Looks like all of them are currently available from a variety of sources. You may need a loan to buy them all new however!:lol: You may be better off buying a used wheel assembly and/or maybe a column.
