1966 Valiant Sedan V8 Swap (Victoria)

Wow, ok, how did they fail, not pumping up or not spinning on the cam??
When the engine was cold, it was fine. But when it got hot, you could hear all 16 lifters. Sounded like a solid cam. So when hot, they bled down because of the flat ground on the sides of the lifters that provides oiling to the cam lobes.

Thanks for responding. I knew it was most likely from GM or AMC , now I just have to find one it looks like a great base for cup holders.

And I looked and looked for something thin enough to fit between the seats of these early A bodies, and they are not so pronounced on it being a certain builder co. I bought it with out the center top, paid 40.. should be able to find one.

Ok, everything is here, now to get my but in gear, it's been a restful last few days, actually been in a trance with Nella's passing .
I need a fire lit under me to get back on it.

All installed and degreed in, clocked the dizzy/oil pump gear, no more leaning over today, but I did prep timming chain cover area for new gasket a few minutes ago. Roller chain soaked for 4 days with lifters in break in oil.. will coat the lobes again before intake goes on.

Now on to installing center grill and hood latch I guess this evening. Jump on the cover, water pump and Alternator tomorrow morning when I am fresh.

Made in Canada baby!!

Not leaving this cam shaft, lifters and rockers to chance of not breaking in correctly, stopped and ordered this to re-coat all the lobes, lifters and rockers in with this.. @Kegan B approve I am sure.
The pre lube I covered the cam shaft with is there, just not as thick as I want so going with this

Hope to get motivated again and get this engine fired back up and enjoy a beuityful spring and summer

In post #535, first picture, it looks like the cam is not even ground. Why use a cam with a rough surface? Am I seeing things?

I am having problems loading pictures, I degreed it and matched the cam card, not sure what you are seeing, they are dark with assembly lube on it, I agree, Why Would Anyone put a cam shaft in thats not ground yet .

You need to hold onto those rocker arms. Those are 340 rocker arms. They are thicker and more heavy duty than all the other stamped rockers.

How can you tell Rob ? And the cam shaft looks great to me, you ?
