1967 Dodge Dart Radio installing

Hey,

i want to install the original Radio in my dart. before, there was an aftermarked radio installed. the bezel was cut too. here is a picture:



2 Weeks before i got a used heater bezel (thanks to henry b ). i paint it. and now i want to install the original radio with the paintet heater bezel like this:




i disassemble the cutted heater bezel. than i had a better look:



the radio must be installed from under the dash. but where i install the mounting nuts and control knobs? on the plastic heater bezel? or was there a metal plate that was cut out for the aftermarked radio??? like this:




And where is the secure bracket? :dontknow:

It looks like they cut the dash to install the radio. You are going to have to get a donor dash frame to fix this. It would probably be easiest to just replace the whole dash frame with one that wasn't cut.

You don't need to hack up a "donor dash frame" Just take some sheet metal and make a plate for the radio to fit, and mount that behind the dash with small screws, in positions which will be hid by the bezel. You might have to make clearance dimples in the back of the bezel to clear those screw heads. Pop rivets might be better, tack welds, etc could also be used.

You've got the bezel, that gives you "location."

Make whatever you have to for a support strap for the rear of the radio. Here we call it "plumber's tape........"

there is a bracket that bolts onto the stud on the rear of the radio and secures it to the dash frame. I'd imagine easy to make something that will work fine. As well as what ^^^ said about fabricating a surround of sorts to support the radio front.

Anyone have any idea what the mounting bracket support looks like or the attachments for a 66 dart? Here is what I have but don't think it's correct. It's about 4" long.
