I am getting some 346 heads done for my 383 as one of the 906 ones got a crack in it from overheating, didn't advance the timing after installing the cam.

Here are the recent specs:

Engine: 383
Cam: Comp Cams 268H XE (Intake .477 Exhaust .480)
Carburetor: Edelbrock 1809 650 cfm 4 Barrel
Intake: Edelbrock 7186 RPM
Timing Chain: Double Roller Comp Cams
Pistons: Flat Top .30 Sealed Power

My question is what Head Gasket should I use, I have been looking at the PT1 Permatorque from Fel-Pro, I still have to check the clearance of the pistons with the deck.

Any stock ones are fine. Where are you located? I have a bunch of the Felpro Bule and a few Victors.

Newbugh ny I bought the felpro ones both pt1 and the 1009 didn't know which one I was better off with. The one I took off had the metal in the center and was a silver color

I believe those would be the .020" shim gaskets. You could use them too; I believe Summit sells the MP part number, but after reading on here, I'm pretty sure you'll need to spray them down with copper sealant and retorque them after the first heat cycles...the Fel-Pros would be a much easier proposition.

The 1009s are a bit more $$ and use the flattened fire ring. They're more for use with aluminum heads.

I use the 8519PT1 to 12:1 compression on 750+ HP engines. Never had a failure with them.

I'd use the 8519s. They will get more bite on the iron, although with 5 bolts around the cylinder it's not quite as big a deal on the big blocks. The 1009s are great gaskets and will work, but you don't "need" them.
