1968 dart Pro street/ half pro touring build

Subscribed. This car is going to be awesome, love that tire you stuck in there. I'm looking at the 540 stroker setup for my truck. Keep it coming

Thanks, That tire is a 295/50/15 , I am planning to run bigger at a 325/50/15 with the mini tubs,

Today when I got home I only had a 1/2 hour to do what I could, I had to clean and detail our golf cart to get ready for the races Thursday and then I removed the Brake pedal assembly and Cowl/Fire wall insulation, coming slowly but coming

well we got the whole underneath scraped of all undercoating , I was surprised how easy we got it off with a torch, we also got the whole rest of the car stripped and the quarters and part of the trunk cut out, no turning back now. We dropped the car off Friday at the blasters and we should get it back tomorrow

Pics!!

well, its back, way worth it, cleans everything up. (yellowing is not rust, is yellowing from the Picklex 20 which is a special coating to keep it rusting without priming)

No real surprises, I have a new AMD Right and left quarter and trunk and quarter extensions, were going to make a truck floor and tubs. One surprise is on the firewall like where the splash shield goes and in the little "dirt trap" near the control arm bolts.

LOOK HERE :blob:

ALL CLEAN !!!!

well, Im out of school now so I can work on it more, I am in the process of trying to find and buy a good Lincoln mig welder and were going to get started on this thing,

Did you get the ignition switch out yet? If not, post a picture of the plastic piece you are talking about. There is just a chromed pot metal bezel that screws onto the end of the switch to hold it on. There is a special tool to remove it.

Nice car! Good work!... I can't wait to see what you do with :)
:happy1:

If you refer to my "Iron maiden" project you will find out I just acquired a brand new .30 340 with scat crank and rods, Kb pistons, stock stroke , coys double roller timing chain, ect, ect, will get more specs soon and also a Holley 950 carb and a V8 k frame

The doors and fenders have holes in them from the past "trim"., Im going to keep the steel fenders and doors, I don't know what im going to do, we could weld them all up or I could buy door skins and fenders,........

Here's what I did. Nails are easy to hold, fill most of the hole and reduce the amount of weld / heat. Just don't use galvanized!

Thanks a lot, That's a great Idea, I have been following your thread over at b bodies and that just slipped my mind. Great job on your coronet! and thanks

Very cool thread. You got started early! If I could've I would've. Got me beat by a couple of years. Can't wait to see it done. Keep it up dude

ignore my last post, I don't know what I was thinking. Its getting painted this winter!

W are going to start our little repairs and then its going to the body shop..!!!

we've been busy

after the past pic we stripped the whole garage and took the dart out and also took the quarters out of the box and taped them on the car to get them out of the way.

our other summer project was my "garage" a 36x20 enclosed carport that I bought.

I was thinking of buying one for a while now but they were $5,000 new and I just needed that money for my dart.

I was searching craigslist about a week after giving up and found one an hour away, that was already up for 3 winters, a really heavy duty one and it had a skylight!!!

I ended up buying it for $1,800 and we took in down in one day....... it didn't go up in one though, we bought the tent in July and between racing and other things we just got it finished last month.. lol

I used it at first as just a "throw in all my junk" storage place until it became closer to winter. We went down the road to a rock and stone place and bought 720 sq. ft of gravel/stone to put down on the for a floor.

Luckly my dad caught that bill.

I then put my 1967 dart all the way to the left back of my tent on a tarp and in front of it is our 1966 coronet gasser.

Today we went to home depot and autozone and I bought a shelf for some parts and two car covers and I just got back inside from covering the cars up and getting the shelf up.

I know this has nothing to do with my dart but I figured I needed a explination of why I have not been working on my dart.

the plan for this winter is.

Next week we are going to go buy a good mig welder, cart and everything

we are going to weld up all the small patches and do the wheel tubs and trunk floor and then it is going to the body shop to have the quarters put on and finished and the doors and trunk also.

when it comes back we are going to be mocking up all my front and rear suspension that I will be ordering pretty soon and it will be rolling and we will mock up rims and tires and also the engine and then it will come out and hopefully the shell will we gone to paint by April
