1970 Dodge Dart GT ~ DarTT

Yeah, I already took it back and got a Porter Cable angle grinder for $35 cuz I know Imma be using that grinder quite a bit in the future.

And the car cover is a water repellent and UV treated one. Its also breathable. It'll do its job better than nothing for now. Also, the car being 3 hours away kinda keeps me from fixing that now sadly

That sux the grinder crapped out, sounds like you got a good one this time.... Being that far away its hard to get much done.. Maybe you'll get it home soon...

Yeah. I really hope so. It should be november when I get her back up here. Maybe even december. I really need to sort out my living arrangements and a few other things. But when she gets back up here, it'll be a bit before I start body work, I wanna be able to get her out of that nasty primer and seal her up and then paint her. I really really wanna get her on the road, but I wanna do it right

Bruce snapped some pics of me and the car. Thanks to him for sharing. Those of you who have not seen everything in the car including pics of every single thing. http://s749.photobucket.com/albums/xx138/DarTTT/1970 Dodge Dart GT/. Once again, Bruce, you rock!

Me putting air in the tires to move it, but 'twas futile for I do not have the correct key at the moment. That problem will be solved soon:-D

Thanks to Bruce for snapping those pictures once again
Since most of you probably read the "harbor freight dissatisfaction" thread, you probably read that I bought an angle grinder to do my floorpans and it died in less than 15minutes of use. I bought a brand new Porter Cable grinder for $35. So the floors condition will be elaborated once more and there will be pics of the mysterious trunkpan hole. Also, we will see if the previous window seal is junk. And! We maybe be moving her into a different spot in Bruce's yard. So stick around. I will probably even make new door panel insulation(that plastic sheet stuff) 8)

That 70 rear bumper looks really straight and the tail lights look perfect. My 70 rear bumper used to be nice and straight until my mom decided to run into the back of my Dart

Its got a little ding on the crease in the middle. but its really good for a driver

Those floorboards look great to me..... Is it a cut hole or rust hole in the trunk???

lol, they need a patch put in the middle of them. Theres a bit of holes in it. two about the size of a third of a penny. and they are crunchy around em and soft, so Imma attack it with a grinder and get it down to bare metal and get a friend to come with his welder and weld in a patch prolly about the size of a pack of smokes.

And the trunk hole is right over the passenger side leaf spring. it was cut out

I think you scored an excellent project car... Someone must have cut that hole for some sort of access hole...

So do I

So do I! Im really happy with it. Definately a find for the south! And i am unsure what they would wanna access. You couldnt really stick your hand through it if you wanted to. its about 2.5" wide by 6 inches from right infront of the spring hanger by an inch. I really hope someone can see it and make sense out of it. it makes no sense at all so far

Post a pic when you get one of it and we'll figure out why its there...

Indefinately! its on my to do list. That and another shot of the engine bay, after i cleaned all the leaves out of it. I really need to get some pics of the bubbling on the roof to quarter seams.

Welcome to the ranks of Dart GT Ownership, BTW.
Thanks! I really hope not to recieve lots of flack for building the car I want to. I plan to hold onto it for as long as I possibly can.

Bruce told me about your GT. I hope you get your badges sorted out and everything. Thats one sweet looking ride! :-D

the car i see in the pics is really nice, dartt. if you take your time, and make every move count, this car should be very, very nice!!!!! youth and exhuberance wins every time, unless you are dealing with old age and tretchery!!!!!!!!!!

What an inspiring post!
It reminds me of back in '81 when i was your age i bought a Demon 318 3spd floorshift manual.....
I loved that car and i couldn't keep my hands off it!
It's still the best car i ever owned.
It was rough and never let me down, but man, the stories......
Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

LOL, he's a Good Guy. Thanks for the compliment, I really enjoy her.
Build what you want, it's your Vision to Pursue, and have fun with it.
Yeah, the emblems are at the plating company right now. I'm anxious to get them back re-chromed, then I'll have to figure out how to do the background black painting.

Spray them semi black then wipe the chrome surface with thinner.

I vote you keep it FK5 too, those cars look good in that color.
Its actually gonna be white in the end with a black bumble bee stripe and black vinyl top. I figured I'd paint it how I'd like, no offense, FK5 is a nice color and the car did look good in it, its just not my style or to my liking. Maybe one day I will do an FK5 car. Its definately quite the different color

fresh FK5 is pretty sweet man. black vinyl top and black stripe. holy mackerell andy!!!!!!

Well, Greenhornet suggested I post this list here as well so here it goes!!
This is gonna be a little difficult to iron out this list, but I am gonna go through and see what I still need.

Heres what I come up with kinda roughly.
All parts involving a key including ignition, doorlocks, and trunklock
Catwhiskers
Oilpickup
Oil pump
Radiator
Rearend
Hoodpins
Driver's side armrest and base
Floorplug kit
Kickpanel insulation
Firewall insulation
Fan???
Shroud???
Any suspension stuff would be highly appreciated as well
Seat tracks
Electronic ignition stuff (Orange box and harness or whatever)
[Im set as far as distributor goes]
A/C Stuff, I am lacking all of it cept the under dash stuff
Rear defrost blower
Altenator and Bracketry for it and the wiring for it probably is gone too

I think that may be it as far as necessary goes.

Not really necessary

Floorshift stuff, even a manual valvebody.
SEM fabric dye from NAPA (white)

THANKS SO MUCH EVERYONE WHO HAS EVER READ THIS FORUM AND A MEGA THANKS GOES OUT TO EVERYONE WHO HAS GIVEN ANYTHING!!! I WILL LIST EVERYONE WHO I RECEIVE THINGS FROM IN MY SIGNATURE UNDER A SPECIAL THANKS SECTION!!!!:cheers::cheers:

FABO!!! I OWE YOU BIGTIME!!!!!

Yep, but the parts list keeps shrinking! Gonna have to go back through and knoc more stuff off and repost! I wont be able to make it down there this weekend due to life and grandfather being down on vacation(very rare). But when I do, I look forward to making some progress, even if it is very small. Progress is progress and you can discount that. every bit counts. And thats a big thumbs up in my book :-D

Hey look out!!! Its another update!
Okay, I got some pictures of the mystery hole and some other random pictures of rust. and let me tell you. My nightmare kind of came true. I found rust in my spare tire well...but it ain't that bad. So, no worries here!!

Piles and piles of trim I need to go through.

here's the emblems Bruce was kind enough to give me, thanks again Bruce! These are going above the door panel, like on Bruce's Dart
IMG_0175.jpg

Here's a pic of Bruce's door panels, you can kind of see the emblem, My door panels will be white instead of light green and the door will be black where its dark green.

Here's the Cheapo console I will be using for a while, a similar one atleast. I might pull one out of a Stratus in a junkyard even maybe
IMG_0173.jpg

Now, for the horror. Whoever tells me why my trunk floor is cut out like it is wins a prize! LOL No one has ever figured it out, I have yet to either

Dear Rust,
I sincerely have never liked you. Not even as a friend. Would you please leave and go away? That would make me really happy.
Thanks,
Mike
