1972 Dart Pro Touring Car / Resto mod

-
Well been a while since I've posted , car coming Long well, under side I got coated, 6 speed crossmember is built and tunnel is enlarged. I'll post pics of crossmember and tunnel later. I got suspension in with my rear end powder coated and should be last time it's bolted in I hope! Got the front lower rad support painted along with engine bay. Also had to massage a little of the inner fender to make room for hydraulic clutch master cylinder fit too.

Also paint is now complete!!! It currently being buffed but body lines came out great!! Thanks toy wonderful father doing all the body work. We had some issues getting the rear quarter middle line staying straight and not too flat. Also the quarters were full quarters that were put on, had to do some grinding in bottom corner to get door lines to line up. Car is getting motor and tranny dropped in Thursday and Friday, then off to Stone restorations for the vinyl top to be out on along with my trim.

Well front brakes are on after big headaches, and suspension all in final assembly and greased. Master cylinder for hydraulic clutch is on and brake master cylinder is on looking good. Was supposed to have tranny and motor in by now but having some issues finding out what t56 I actually have. I have found out its a Tremec replacement tranny not magnum and has longer shaft so needed some spacers for the bearing and the bell housing. Spacers should be done tomorrow fingers crossed.

Here's the wheels I'm thinking of doing orders a couple for to see if they fit but I think there's not enough backspace for the front :( I like the look but kinda prefer all satin black

IDK why but wheels always look smaller in pictures..I go home and my 15s look bigger than your 17s hmm

I understand , they do seem small, also te thin tires don't help either.
Yeah, I mean I do have 275s on the 15s and wouldn't go any less if I upgrade to 17-18s I need a 28-31in tire for street, unless I just get a gear change for the street.

Yea been there before I was running 833 4 speed and 215/45/14s with 323..... Bad idea on street, that's where my 6 speed will come in handy and also have close to 27" tall tire rear and 3:91s should purr at 1800 about 65-70. You duster guys can fit a little bit bigger/taller tire due to your fender wells.

Yeah.. I am kind of pondering a 275/60/17 tire combo in the rear if I step up, but I want to drop the rear also and level the car out

Well motor went in pretty smoothly , so much more room with the rms suspension but the six speed is pretty long. The Doug's Headers look great and for nicely. Had to save a little off of the rack and pinion bushin to get rack to fit with milodon oil pan very tight but fits.

Got most of brakes lines ran today, decided after a lot of research to go with the nicopper / nickel copper / cunnifer lines instead of stainless or steel. The copper look is growing on me, but they are awesome to work with. Got the BM line lock mounted, hydromax clutch resivoir mounted and the proportioning valve for read brakes also mounted. Have to pick up couple more fittings to finish the read lines.

Got all fuel lines ran, went with 3/8 aluminum line. Tuff very easy to work with but also very easy to kink. Went with a few an adapter for fuel filter and connecting to fuel pump.

We took my automatic steering column and shaved the top off and made it a four speed column turned out good, will post pics later. Tryib to button up all small pieces and will be heading off for vinyl top and weather stripping installed and possibly some ac!

Thanks yes my goal is to be one heck of a driver. Starting with 3:91 gears but might be able to go 4:10 or lower we will see, I want to cruise around 1500-1700 rpm around 60-70mph

Also the steering column I'll take some pics this evening and upload them. My father turned my automatic and his column for 71 roadrunner into floor columns. Turned out great.

I'm so pumped to get her driving but here in ohio weather is still crappy snowy cold rain sleet etc

I hear you on the weather, I am in Upstate, NY.
Want did he use to graph the area on the column?

Here's some pics of my dads
