1972 Dart Swinger slant six to 340 upgrade

A lot to look at but if you look closely you can now see where the leaf springs are mounted on the insides of the frame rather than the outer side. Now I just need to build a support frame for the fuel cell and mount that.

Dave,

Dave,

Haha thank you! If my garage didn't have a space heater i'd just let the thing collect dust. As much as I love mopars, that concrete is cold in the winter!

Started building the frame for the new fuel cell. It is going to be a tight squeeze between the leaf springs but will look incredible once done.

The front mounts for the leaf spring relocation are getting some arms that will be bolted to the car through the floor. This will give even more support to the new mounts and will double as a loop to catch the drive shaft in case one ever comes apart when I'm up to no good....

Finished the front mounts. I cut out and welded on some sheet metal for appearance reasons. It will help structurally as well but we have plenty of strength as of now. The C channel used for the front mount is wider than the frame I have available to work with so It hangs down about 1/2 inch lower than the frame. I just cut the outside edges of the frame side of the mount to match the frame. This was anything that is sticking out does not look out of place.

Threw the leaf springs on. We have plenty of clearance with the fuel cell which makes me happy. Now I am ready to throw the 8 3/4 rear axle in.

Working on installing Hurst 4 speed shifter. Had to cut floor panel in order to fit new shifter. Ordered an AMD 4 speed hump and will install once arrives.

Rear end is almost 100% complete. Need to insert some spacers on the anti-sway bar to give adequate clearance.
