2008 SRT-4 Dodge Avenger ?? Maybe....

Ok so I am getting a wild idea in my head and well... its probably stupid and a total waste of time and money.... but...It may still happen. I have a 2008 Dodge Avenger with the 2.4 motor in it. Gutless slug. My warranty is about up on it. I work at a Dodge dealership and have been talking with the techs here on it. I am thinking on sticking in a SRT-4 Neon motor in it with all the mods I can on it including a stage 3 turbo etc.. I never was a big Neon fan, but the new Avenger has at least a decent look for a 4-door. Granted a few mods will have to take place but ya gotta admit... it would be different and I am all about being different.

A buddy has a SRT 4 and is running 12.005 best so far with stage 3. He has new clutch and going with some better tires hoping for 11's.

He is trying to get into PINK's all out here in Indy this month.

I sent a e-mail off to the Mopar performance engineers and got a response back stating they will get back with me on what the swap would involve.
It will be interesting to see what they say.

i say save your money......One its an avenger , Two its FWD , i know your tring to be diffrent and thats good...But really you would have a big 4 door car that has a 4 Cyl in it...power to wieght would suck and if you brake something parts arent cheap at all.....

Avenger big ? I guess I would have never thought of it as a BIG car. Yes it is a FWD but I might as well make a fun and different daily driver. I dunno yet and appreciate your thoughts. Keep in mind the car is a 4 cyl to begin with and i will be increasing the horsepower almost two fold. Will be alot more horsepower for that ratio your thinking of.

Just dug up some information on a SRT-4 track time with a stage 3 in a Neon though... guy running a 1/4 at 11.48. Zippy none the less.

I like seeing poeple go outside of the box..these are a few of my cars....and they are out of box:
05 lexus 430 turbo
and working on a twin turbo slant for now..
So go for want you want....my lexus is big but not slow anymore...So have fun with your daily driver

I Like Seeing Things Done Outside The Box. I Have Been Kicking Around A Stratus Coupe (2204-05 R/t) & Swaping It To Rwd. Small Block, 904 Tf, 8 3/4, & Cal Trac Suspension. It Should Be A Nice Bracket Racer. I See This Being Done With The Later Camaros. It Would Be Nice To Compete With Them.

I would just dump the Avenger and get a Neon SRT-4. The SRT-4 is a cool looking ride.

Ya I never been a Neon fan... egg on wheels.. where the avenger at least has a mini dodge charger appeal and a menacing front end. Thanks for the input though.

How about going for an SRT4 Caliber engine instead? It has the advantage of dual VVT technology, and also I guess it has similar mounting design as the factory 2.4L on your Avenger. I know, on the other side, currently there are no upgrades available (except maybe stage1 I guess) but who knows later on...
