273 Exh Port MisMatch

Just in case you want to know, the '64-6 factory 273 in an A-body used an embossed steel gasket with a spark plug heat shield on the driver's side, and no gasket on the passenger side. It's a matter of choice and the condition of the surfaces as to whether using or not using a gasket is the better choice. Personally, I use them on both sides. I guess we decided that vonzipper's gasket was just flipped around.....
 
There are a LOT of different exhaust manifolds. 273 being the smallest ports of them....
I have been doing these cars for about forty years now, and other than headers I have never used gaskets on the exhaust manifolds and never had any leaks, because they are mated machined surfaces, I worked for chrysler for many years they did not have gaskets when they came from the factory, I recommend have they manifolds surface ground to true up the surface hope this helps.
