Here's one for the Old timers... After you rebuild a motor, put it all together but still on an engine stand, how long can it sit?

A good idea to loosen the rocker shafts so all the valve springs will be relaxed and the valves will be closed. Keps critters out of the bores too.

How about if I cover with a Plastic bag? I've put the motor together about 1 1/2 months ago but the body shop is taking longer than expected, probably another month- month and half.

Wouldn't hurt to put some dessicant bags in the plastic bag, i.e. the stuff you get in pill bottles. At least you aren't in Palm Beach on the ocean side. The main thing is to keep it at a fairly uniform temperature. If on a back porch, the temperature swings cause condensation.
