Where can I get a mid seventies thermo-quad, which size, P/N and will it run better than a rebushed 2bbl would while keeping those sucky heads? In keeping it original looking what air cleaner would I need that still uses the hot air from exhaust tube or do I need a different exhaust manifold?
Last question, EGR or non-EGR performer or a stock 340 4bbl manifold?
Please bear in mind I know nothing about Mopars except that Ive always liked them and always will.
If you want to stick with the Carter BBD, look for a pre-smog BBD.
When I was playing with the 2 bbls in my slant six cars, I liked the BBD's from a 1968 318 car. They were actually remanufactured by Holley. lol
They worked really well.
Having said that, and read what you would like to do with your car, I would go with what Rumble has suggested, and hop it up a little with a Edelbrock Performer intake, Edelbrock 600 carb. I actually had this set up in a 70 Dart, with dual exhaust,340 manifolds,H-pipe, Flowmasters, Electronic ign, and could roast the tires all the way down the street.
Sounds like you have a low mile car, and it would be hard to lose it's originality. But you can always box the stock parts, and go back to stock if yopu wanted to. My feelings say once you get the extra ponies, you wont look back.8)
Here is a pic of the 318 I mentioned.
