Some more pictures I forgot to post earlier. I had bought a Grant steering wheel for the new column, and then my son changed his mind and decided to use the original one. And that required some alterations.
Because the original is keyed to the shaft he needed to file a spline in the key for the Flaming River shaft.
Next he had to enlarge the hole for the horn wire and plastic sleeve.

And the steering wheel cover extension had to be trimmed.

We’re going to put a different gas tank in it. My son is going to cut out the spare tire well and make a cover. He’s taken his measurements and marked his lines and he’s starting to cut it out.

Here he’s laying out the lines to do some bead rolling. And it’s not as easy as they make it look on TV. This was his 1st time as is most of the things he’s done so far. Lines to close together = warp age.

Hey Valiant69er! This is cole, I met you this past weekend when you were putting the headers on Josh's GMC. Your build is looking awesome and I look forward to cruising with ya'll one day!

Haven't posted for awhile. Finally had some time to get to it. We got the cage welded in with removable door bar. I'll use that only at the track. Took a lot more time than I thought. Measuring, notching, fitting, welding. Being 6' 5" and having to contort yourself in all kinds of crazy positions to be able to reach all the areas that need to be welded wore my *** out. On to the package tray next.

Wow. Time flies.
Finally getting back to business.
Made a little progress on the rear seat frame, widening to fit larger wheel tubs.
Pics to come shortly.

Made a little progress Saturday. Package tray fully welded in. Seat frame adjusted and welded. They fit perfect. Had to use a little rust converter on the package tray and cage, since it's been sitting awhile in raw metal. I didn't think it would take this long to get back too it.

Thanks Chris. Sometimes I wonder what the heck I was thinking going that deep into it. It will be worth it when I finally finish.
