318 4bbl Conversion

    Gathering all the parts for my 4bbl conversion. I've got an ld4b and an edelbrock 1406 ready to go. Looking for heat insulator gaskets for the job but there seems to be no end to the square bore options for this piece. There are lots of different styles as well and I'm not up on all the differences so looking for recommendations.

    With the ld4b you will want the insulator gasket #9266 from Edelbrock. I just installed my new avs2 with the open insulator gasket but the book calls for the number I gave you. Comes with the correct studs too.

        You also need the four barrel throttle bracket which you can but new, also the kick down lever at the carb needs to be extended one inch.

        Does a Thermoquad use the same insulator gasket? Or does it even need or use one? I am working on a conversion too. Thank you.

        Hard piping and installing the cheap fuel pressure regulator now, taking my time trying to anticipate all the glitches

            No, The valve covers are real Cal Custom that I cleaned and powercoated. I cant remember where I got the air cleaner but I bought it to match the valve covers and I think it is Cal Custom as well. I finished the fuel plumbing and I am ready to start the car. I will make it a morning project as I need to think about it and review all the advice the players in our conversation gave me. (you know who you are)
            I am cautiously optimistic that I will have a good outcome and my little motor will finally run. As one said-all this for a vacuum leak that I should have been able to diagnose 2 years ago------------------------I feel really inadequate----------but hopeful!

                It has been reported that duals are a nice addition. The factory manifolds are a bit restrictive, 340 manifolds a bit less and headers are the ultimate but not absolutely necessary for a teen with stock compression, heads, and cam.

                Right now I just need it to be a driver. It's been so long already. Once this project is done, then my winter project will be to tear down the front end and have it ready to cruise for the spring, finally!
