I am rebuilding a 360 magnum. The original cam is worn so I have to replace it. I have a good stock cam from a 318.
I read the 318 cam is slightly different than the 360 cam. Would I gain anything by using the 318 cam instead of a new aftermarket stock replacement 360 cam?
I don’t care about top end since it is for a 4x4. Looking for most torque possible from 0-2,500 rpm.
Will be using oem efi and stock tune. My pcm is for a 360.

Yup, it's pretty well known the 5.2 cam is somehow a "step up" in a 5.9. As strange as it sounds.

The original cam has 200,000 miles on it and has some pitting on the lobe surface so I don’t think I should reuse it.

I've seen some delamination on the lobe surface of those cams before. IIRC, the factory had a run of late LA and early magnum hydraulic rollers that didn't get adequately hardened. If you can swing it, send the cam to Ken Heard and tell him to grind it on a 1006 profile on a 110 LSA. He'll re-harden it after grinding so you will be good there. Numbers are as follows 203/208 @ .050, 260/264 @.006, .437/.453 lift. I've emailed Ken before for recommendation on a 5.9 magnum "super towing engine" a friend was building and that's what he spec'd. It would also be a good time to upgrade to the Hughes magnum spring kit, in case you decide to go with more camshaft in the future.
