I have got a relativly stock rebuilt 340 and i am in need of a carb. I was leaning towards a holley street avenger 670 cfm. The motor has J heads with a mild port job, .30 over, stock style pistons, extreme energy 260 cam. hooker headers. I want a streetable carb but would still like to make the most power possible.

Its also 9.5/1 compression, and i plan on running an rpm air gap intake

IMO, that would be a good carb choice. No more than 750 or use a T-Q.

Since the Air Gap is set up for square bore carbs, that rules out the TQ and Q jet. The Holley you're leaning towards appears to be a good choice.

IMO the Eddie 650 cfm Thunder AVS would be worth a look. It also is closest to what the early 340s had on them.

No it doesn't, but I'm no fan of a spacer or cutting holes in my hood. LOL

2 votes for a mild size carb!
