340 heads on 5.9 magnum

-
they dont have all the accessory bolt holes youll need to bolt everything back up.

and you need to figure out how to get oil to the rocker shafts....

Why would you want to do that, even if they were a direct bolt-on, i'd rather use a magnum style head like EQs or RHSs, much better then the older heads IMO.

Joe is right, but I gather that you have 340 heads and no money for new heads.

heres the problem with 340 heads on a Magnum block.

Theres no provision in the block to plumb oil up to the heads to oil the rocker shafts. To get oil up to the heads would require drilling the block down to the cam bearings, installing older bearings and use of older head gaskets. This is more akin to a total rebuild plus hard machine work. Drilling a block this much is hard and labor intensive.

It would be easiest to sell the 340 heads (If there not going to be used on another engine) and roll the money over into a Magnum head like above. This way, the accer. bolt holes are there since they are not there or add-able to the older head

had the 5.9 blow headgasket and saw the 340 heads and got me thinking about fast fix, but broke as hell ,life goes on ,going to take the 5.9 heads and have them checked for warp and mill if needed and throw it back together

yeah, they won't directly interchange. You won't have a big issue with oiling if you use the drilled pushrods and oil through the lifters. But, you lose lift and duration and like Rumble said the holes are not in the right places.
