Im in the process of gathering parts for a 408 build. Its sole purpose is a bracket race engine.
I have a 89 360 LA roller cam block. I am trying to figure out if this block is going to limit me in any way as far as camshaft choices
go. Is there a way to use a large solid roller cam with the factory spider lifter retainer setup? What are my options Thanks.

Does the dog bone retainers limit the amount of lift or is there just not any solid lifters that are machined for the dog bones?

Ok so link bar lifters are my only option. I guess the next question is will the taller lifter bores interfere with the link ?

I do not know the lift limit of the dog bones, you could solid shim the hydraulic roller lifter bodies to be solid roller lifters. I know a guy who run this setup with great success.

You will need to source lifters for that particular block. Some block clearancing
will most likely be needed.
I believe I got mine from Hughes.
Depending on your head choice, you may run into pushrod issues at the head.

So sounds like it wouldn't prove anything running a factory roller block unless you did a modified hydraulic lifter deal ??
