360 smogger or not??

I have magnum heads, air gap intake, and a summit K6901 cam on my engine which is likely identical to yours except mine is .040" over. It runs really good but you'll be outlaying more money for the pushrods/valvesprings/intake. The compression goes way up...the "replacement" pistons for a '77 360 are 8:1, even though they are flat top...they are just really far down the hole. I'm guessing I have 8.8:1 or so with a set of unmodified magnum heads.

It really pulls strong. Slam on the gas and you can feel the chassis twist and you better be ready to make the 1-2 shift (I have a 4-speed with the 2.66:1 1st and a 3.23 rearend so the 1-2 shift is about 42mph).

The magnum heads are really good. I'll bet I can run 87 all day and not get any ping and not have to back the timing off. The combustion is also pretty efficient.

here's how she sounds...I need to lean it out a little
