The Original Demon Seed
Is this on the flat part of the block right beside the distibutor, if so the D means it's a 1968 383 and alot of the time there are no other symbols just numbers.

383=engine size
9=September
28=September 28
On the block you have a D&N with a arrow pointing to one of them,this is day shift and night shift.You will also have a casting date near the casting number with a day month year.You should have a serial number on the bottom oil pan rail and a build date also,mrmopartech
