4 speed carpet protector in '65 FS

I'm starting in on the front carpet installation on my '65 FS 4 speed. It's not fun. I have an ACC carpet set made for the 4 speed floor hump profile. The carpet seems correct, but there is slop at the base of the hump, and other than gluing it down, just wondering if anyone tried Velcro in in this area instead of glue. Trying to figure out where the stainless steel carpet protector goes, I have a nice original with all the attachment tabs. I'm thinking that once properly positioned, the tabs push through the carpet, but you'd have to pull the carpet out to bend the tabs over. If anyone has a photo of the installed carpet showing the protector installed, and carpet around the hump you could post, I'd appreciate it. Bob.

it was installed by previous owner when i purchased it.

there is slop at the base of the hump

On my car the gas pedal held the carpet down and against the tunnel fairly well.
Seats help, carpeted floor mats hide what little remains, seems to have settled fine over time.

Very gentle use of a heat gun can help to mould the carpet a bit better as well
